Hey, dont get me wrong 19 mill is fucking nuts for a Club like Pool, just makes no sense. All well and good the likes of City paying that kind of money but Pool just cant afford to be going up against a club like City.

I’m disgusted with this. Cover for Arbeloa is not 19 million on Johnson. The initial bid of 10 million would be somewhere closer to the mark. I’d rather stick with Carragher as cover at right back to be honest and spend the 19m plus a few more on a very decent striker.

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has revealed he is considering retiring at the end of his current contract.
The 29-year-old England midfielder has a deal until 2013 with the Reds, but admits it could be his last in football.
‘I’ll be 33 at the end of my contract, and it’s doubtful whether I’ll carry on,’ he said in an interview with France Football.
‘If I decide to stop, I’ll be proud of the fact I’ve spent my entire career with the same club.’
Gerrard also revealed he gave serious thought to leaving Anfield for Chelsea four years ago, but changed his mind late in the day.
‘I’ve thought about leaving Liverpool twice during my career, especially in 2005 when Chelsea was a temptation,’ he added.
‘But I’m glad I never turned those thoughts into reality.’
Eh Stevie, I think you’ll find you got death threats so chickened out of the move, then tried to get agents to set the move up again the following summer only for Chelsea to have cooled their interest 
Johnson was a failure at Chelsea because of his personality and possibly his lifestyle, my Chelsea supporting friend told me at the time. He’s a season ticket holder and Knows These Things. The spell at Pompey should have seen him grow up you’d imagine.
Still though, 18m. He might struggle with that on his shoulders.

Read on BBC that it’ll be financed by Arbeloa going to Madrid for 8m and Portsmouth still owe us 7m for Crouch. I like Arbeloa but think Johnson is an improvement so I’m happy enough. If we only signed one other player I’d love it to be Zhirkov but seems he’s off to Chelsea. Must be there to play left wing as I don’t see why they’d sell Cashley.

He acted the cunt for two summers and the season in between and had his head turned by Chelseas millions but then he realised just what Liverpool, with their history and tradition really means.

Serious rumours doing the rounds in the city that the club has already been sold or that one or the two of them have new backers,and the new backers/owners have already advanced some funds Hence the relative calm from Laurel and Hardy (hicks and gillet) when the clubs recent money woes were revealed. Apparently Its all been kept hush hush until Rafa completes his signings so as not to drive up the prices.
Probably complete bull but we do seem to be in talks with Johnson and Tevez, that points at around 40 million at least possibly being spent on 2 players, where the fuck did that money come from?

Interesting.
There must be some explanation for the 17m on Johnson. No one in their right mind would spend that unless they were completely loaded.

I think that’s gas though. Same old Madrid. Buy two of the world’s best attackers to score goals and then buy a Liverpool reject to help keep them out down the other end. They never learn.

I would be astonished if a company as big as Kop Holdings or whatever it’s called could be sold without people knowing it. Surely someone in the Company’s Office or somewhere would notice. I think there’s no privacy protection on company ownership so it would be common knowledge if the club had been sold I think.
New backers - not sure how that would work. Again you’d be talking about a change in ownership structure of that Kop company because otherwise you’d have investors getting no shares for their money. That seems extremely far-fetched.
The reality with football these days is that the locals in Liverpool will be far from the first people to hear about any takeover or refinancing of Liverpool FC.

Like i say mate havent a clue. Just passing on the word thats on the street in Liverpool. However i do recall that when City were taken over last summer that it did really come as a bolt from the blue and no one seemed to know anything about it so maybe it is possible

There was an interview in the Gaurdian recently where he explained all that. I actually believed him on it. Seems like he’s matured enough to realise he can’t blow this opportunity now that he’s in the England team and joining a formerly successful club for big money.
