Saw the second half of that game. Entertaining fare.
My random thoughts:
Carrick was muck again. Should have recorded the game to put together a highlights package of times when he hid from possession and times when United were breaking and he just played it backwards. Awful stuff and negated the fact that Liverpool had no attacking central player.
Benayoun was excellent, big responsibility with him to provide the playmaking with Alonso gone and he did that very well. Still think you’ll struggle (particularly against weaker teams) without someone to be more attacking centrally but at least he’s an option.
Ref bottled a couple of decisions near the end. Carragher should have been sent off, Vidic should have gotten straight red.
Barring the 10-15 minute period before half time united never looked like dominating the play, looked too reliant on Valencia to counter down the right and once Insua got to grips with him they struggled to create much…
Agree with you on Benayoun, looked dangerous every time he got the ball…
not referring to terry and ferdinand who he was deservedly behind, schteve was bringing in the lies of brown, campbell and assorted others ahead of him in his chosen position
capello has said that he would consider him, but carragher has said no
as regards gergie’s interview, nothing so deep as an inferiority complex, just love to see the beetroot face on the cunt when he loses
Fair play to Liverpool today, by far the better team and fully deserving of their win. Set up better than Utd and harassed the Utd midfield into giving up posession far too cheaply.
Wouldn’t agree with Rocko on Berbatov, thought he was the only Utd player with any creative spark today, would have brought Owen on and taken Valencia off.
The Utd midfield today was dire. Far too conservative in possesion and too loose when Liverpool had the ball. Desperately missed Fletcher’s energy today. I don’t believe that either Valencia or Nani should be playing for Utd. Neither seem to have the level of craft required, especially Nani who seems to get worse the longer he spends at Utd.
Carragher should have got a red, Vidic got one at Old Trafford last year for the same type of tackle, but tbh I’m not sure it would have made a difference to the final result.

I only saw the second half so Berbatov may have been better in the first half but he wasn’t up to much for the 25 minutes I saw him in. Agreed on Nani, he’s an ok winger but he lacks that bit of class that you’d expect for 20 odd million or whatever he cost.
What’s the story with Anderson these days by the way - injured I presume?
Benayoun has improved substantially from when he first joined. Excellent game yesterday.
Torres is a master. Ferdinand’s defending was suspect but Torres has that class that when he gets a sniff no one is going to stop him. He way he held him off and finished was just superb.
Best defensive performance by Liverpool in ages as well. I thought Agger and Carragher were excellent.
Typically very poor defending. He is rubbish. Riise was better than him, Warnock was better than him, Arbeloa was better than him. I wonder is Aurelio being rested or what. Fulham have absolutely no interest in playing ball and were jammy to go ahead. Despite us being devoid of ideas I still fancied us to come back (and go on and win) simply because, for me, it basically matches up as crap versus (crap + Torres and Benayoun).
