Some clown on Off The Ball last night was saying the Liverpool’s biggest problem this season was that younger players were asked to step up to the plate too quickly.
In this he mentioned Ngog (20 years old and 1.5 million cost - fair enough maybe), Lucas (6 millon!!) and Babel (11 million!!).
What a clown.
[quote=“farmerinthecity”] Babel (11 million!!).

I see Babel wants to leave now…Rafa will be lucky to get 5 Million for him now I would think. Very Lucky.
ClarkeyCat just said to me that Harry Redknapp would have made a super Liverpool manager and they’d have won the league again by now if he took over when Benitez did.
I reckon he’s far better in the transfer market and a better motivator. Probably unproven tactically but that said I don’t see Rafa as a shrewd tactitioner either. I stand by what I said.
Portmousth would be long wound up now if it wasnt for Harry Redknapp. The money they got for Diarra & Muntari especially. Every unknown player he brings into a club increases in value when they leave. Of all Benitezs signings only Torres ticks this box.
Buying and selling a player at a loss of 8m in a few months should be a sack able offence on its own !
I dunno about winning the league but taking away the very lucky CL win in 2005 he has the same amount of domestic trophies as Rafa in the same timeframe, with a much smaller club and budget of course though.
I’d certainly have Harry ahead of the fat man anyway.

Beat Juventus the then Italian Champions over two legs.
Beat Chelsea the then English Champions elect over two legs.
Beat Milan in the final (albeit on penos).
How in the name of Jaysus is that lucky?

Apart from that, how was your trip to Dallas Mrs Kennedy?
I don’t understand either of the last two posts but I’m sure what Olympy is trying to say is that it was a poor Liverpool side that won the CL.
I don’t expect you to understand my level of conversation.
Isn’t the fact that it was a poor side that won the CL a vindication of Benitez as manager?

Perhaps. But I also think there was a large chunk of luck that night in Turkey. Were you there?
Aquilani and Benayoun on the bench today.
Still 1 up though. It would be great if we could hold on to this.
finished 2-0
Neverton can rightly feel that they should have got something from this game, a couple of cracking saves from reina and a couple of howler misses were the difference. liverpool got about 3 decent chances and took 2 goals from them. huge slice of luck for mascherano’s opener
what the fuck is going on with aquilani, it’s fucking nearly december now and he was supposed to be playing in the first week in october, rafa is hardly keepng lucas in the team to bump up his value in january and then start playing aquilani

If that’s what Rafa’s doing it’s counter productive. The chap loses value every time he plays. The team as a whole were shite there today. Good result though.

The pressure that’s goin to be on him when he does play will be massive as well. Benitez’s reputation is riding on him at this stage.

I think the point is that it wasn’t even Benitez’s side at all. When he had something thrust at him in 2004 [as in Houillers team] he did ok. When he was left to his own devices ever since he has proved he hasn’t a clue.
As reflected by another Champion’s League final appearance two years later.
