I think Gerrard is over rated but I hate Liverpool.
Farmer thinks Gerrard is great but he loves Liverpool.
Maybe we could meet somewhere in the middle and call him mediocre.
Firsty to say that Gerrard didnât turn up in grossly unfair. If he was any other player you would probably say that âhe hadnât a bad game or wasnât the worstâ. You have to remember that Chelsea have an excellent team full of top class players such as Essien so you canât get on Gerrardâs back on his performance particularly when he has gone beyond the call of duty for Liverpool some many times at this stage.
Also Gerrard is a forward. Chelsea dominated the game and as a resuly Gerrard didnât get on the ball as much.
Give the guy a break for fook sake.
But heâs not âany other playerâ!!! Thatâs my point, I judge him with higher expectations than the rest of the team.
And I wasnât excusing Dossena either, Iâm just saying that Iâd say he felt like shit coming on at that stage in the game with that scoreline. I agree he was shite.
The ânot at the racesâ comment was specifically in relation to Gerrard. The âdoesnât turn upâ comment wasnât. The âdoesnât turn upâ was more of a general question which I note is still unanswered.
id agree with the anti Gerrard stance.
if the lad had offloaded a 35yard screamer in the 93rd minute last night he would be getting the plaudits and the headlines today, regardless of how he played. His anonymous 92 minutes would be forgotten about.
last night he was rubbish in their biggest game of the season so far and that is a fact. Its also a fact that Liverpool cant afford him to be rubbish in these games.
I think youâre getting a little bit worked up here Farmer. Take a break for a second. Gerrard was very average last night and deserves the criticism just like he deserves the praise when he plays well.
In saying that Liverpools problems last night stemmed from the following players.
Aurelio - Absolute fucking nightmare, gave the ball away so many times and in such dangerous positions. He was targeted by Chelsea as a weak link
Skrtel - Couldnât handle Drogba at all. Very poor on his left side
Arbeloa - Gave the ball away too cheaply and was exposed by Malouda of all players
Lucas - Out of his depth at this level Iâm afraid and was also targeted by Chelsea as a weak link.
Reira - Offered very little going forward
Hiddink outsmarted Benitez last night by exposing the weak links in Liverpoolâs team and taking Gerrard out of the game. Well done Hiddink
The only thing is that I and many other Liverpool fans do not see last nights game as the biggest game of the season.
The game at Old Trafford was the biggest for me.

And why do you judge him with higher expectations? Because of what he has done in the past where he has proven his capability beyond all doubt to pull Liverpool through by himself in many occassions.
As I said he is a victim of his own success.
To have a pop at him now when one game didnât go for him, up against as fine of a player as there is anywhere in Michael Essien, and when Chelsea dominated midfield and carried were constant attacking the Liverpool defence, is very harsh I feel.

A player who has the ability to constantly come up with match winning screamers is something special. Donât belittle it.
Gerrard did not actually play that badly. His cushioned header for Torres for the only chance of the second half was superb.
But Liverpool lose 3-1 and straight away everyone is saying âWhere was Gerrard?â
Well sorry he didnât score two or three screamers to turn the game around but Iâll forgive him when I think back to Milan in 2005 (the biggest game of his career where he turned the game around by himself), Olympiakos in 2005, West Ham in 2006, numerous other goals to win games in league and Champions League matches.

he was poor last night, and its last nights match most people want to discuss.
perhaps Gerrard is a victim of hype.
the british media have spent the last few weeks lauding him as (perhaps)the best player in the world but certainly the best midfielder in the world.
on that 1 performance he wasnt .
thats all.
I agree that hidinkâs tactics worked a charm on liverpool and essien had gerrard in his pocket. a bit like torres had with vidic some weeks ago.
I wouldnt necessarily rule liverpool out just yet as mentioned above when they came from 3 down to beat ac milan. albeit cos AC milan were guzzling champagne at HT and gerrad did one of his legendary swan dives for the 2nd goal!!(?)
I donât agree with that and I think the reason that people are bringing it up is because he is expected to turn around a game for Liverpool where they were dominated all over the pitch by an excellent side.
They also like to have a pop at Gerrard because he is Gerrard.
I was wondering how long it would take a Liverpool fan to use the word âvictimâ

See youâre being paranoid again, thatâs not my intention at all but by all means believe it if you like.
Iâm disappointed with farmer for responding to these tired old wind-ups about gerrard, he should know better.
always the same story with liverepool. they are ridiculousy overhyped after beating a shite madrid team. Everyone thinks they are world beaters and then they flop against an âageingâ chelsea team.
Hear hear. That manchester united lot are shite as well.
World club champions, European champions, premership champions(going for three in a row. Speaks for itself really.
âŚ
i doubt theres much winding up going on.
this Gerrard plays for one of Englands biggest and most successful clubs, is hailed by the Brit media as the greatest player in the world, yet what the fuck has he done?
One flukey European Cup medal is what players like jesper Blomquist and Darren Fletcher have, except theirs are sitting beside their Premier league medals.
Gerrard is a tidy player but i wouldnât have a hard on for him like most people do.

idiotâŚthey beat a ten man united in that gameâŚwill count for nothing iff and
when liverpool end the season with nothingâŚas for gerrard id put him in same catagory as ronaldo âŚvery talented player but sometimes anonymous in big games and just as much of a cuntâŚ
