They’ll win the title, an absolute certainty.
I don’t think so, the cracks are appearing, I think they sense this too and are getting the excuses in early. None of them will come out and say that not winning the title would be a disaster given the position they sit in at this point.
Not winning the title from this position would be an absolute disaster
Finishing ahead of Everton and Bournemouth would have to be considered a successful season for Liverpool but there’s a long way to go yet. Lets not get carried away.
Exhibit A.
You support Roma. Media darlings who haven’t won a trophy since 2008, yet award their manager with the Enzo Bearzot Coach of the Year for presiding over yet another trophyless season.
Makes a change from stabbing him in the back, sorry, bum - this is Roma we’re talking about, after all.
Roma are a selling club. We sell our best players every season. EDF is also only in his second season in the job and in that time has sold 6 starting regulars - Alisson, Rudiger, Emerson, Nainggolan, Strootmsn, Salah.
We regularly spend less on transfers that we receive and his job was under big scrutiny earlier this season. The Roma job is one of the most difficult in football, there is massive expectation in very challenging circumstances.
What expectation? Roma fans are petrified of winning. They hide behind the mantra ‘we’re a selling club’.
The expectation that has seen 8 different managers in the 10 seasons that have passed since they last won silverware. All this in the face of being Serie A runners up 4 times in that period while being a club who regularly sells their best players.
he isn’t 18 anyway.
He looks like the bad guy from no country for old men
Haven’t seem yet but he’s wanted by all the big clubs in Italy. Very highly sought after.
There are huge expectations on Liverpool and they also face challenging circumstances. Liverpool have been forced to sell their best players when the right offer comes in, (Sterling, Suarez and Coutinho). They spend less than mid-table teams like Bournemouth and Everton yet despite all these hurdles, the current manager has them competing for a top 4 finish. Staggeringly you have people calling for Klopp’s head.
Sounds like double standards and excuses for Roma’s lack of silverware since 2008. Roma’s shortcoming explained away by ‘we’re a selling club’. What clubs are not selling clubs outside of an elite coterie of super franchises? Liverpool had to sell probably their best player half way through last season, Philippe Coutinho. Shrewd re-investment of the sales proceeds in Van Dijk and the goalkeeper have turned them into a top of the table team.
He lauds Roma for finishing 2nd 4 times to a team that admittedly cheats to titles yet will lambast Klopp for finishing 2nd to a team that also cheats. Staggering hypocrisy.
So they have only sold one important player during Klopp’s 4 seasons in charge and still have yet to win a trophy?
Doesn’t seem to be that challenging.
I don’t laud them for anything. We have got rid of 8 managers in that time. Clearly 2nd hasn’t been good enough.
hang on, which team cheats?
So they had to sell one regular in 4 seasons? That does not constitute a regular.
