I suppose the one big thing about Liverpool is that they are essentially a selling club - so while they have spent, they have generated a lot of that back in player sales… City, Utd and Chelsea dont have to worry about that…
I never said he did … The club obviously buy players - every club does - but in comparison to Chelsea and the Manchesters, Liverpool have to be a lot more prudent.
Manchester City have walked away from numerous transfer deals in the last 4 or 5 years because they felt the price wasn’t right.
The initial outlay was because they had a shit squad, money was spent, a lot squandered trying to get in a squad.
The investment has and will continue to repay itself for Cities owners, very similar to Chelsea. Massive up front investment to get there and continual investment to maintain.
Both clubs are self sufficient now.
Any griping is because they aren’t traditionally the big clubs, the Arsenals, Uniteds and Liverpools who basically had the Premier League turned into a cabal.
Liverpool simply dont have the resources to spunk on transfers - they have to sell to balance the book … I think Klopp is around £80M net spend in 4 years. Pep is at + £450m
