Liverpool 2018/2019

They are. Spurs decided to put £1bn into a vanity project and Liverpool were the biggest spenders in the EPL this summer.

Not to mention all 4 clubs are owned by billionaires.

Hey Mike, will you ever fuck up

Liverpool seem to be able to mix it financially
Spurs have spent 1bn on a stadium

the beal bocht here is frightening

I suppose the one big thing about Liverpool is that they are essentially a selling club - so while they have spent, they have generated a lot of that back in player sales… City, Utd and Chelsea dont have to worry about that…

Fair point.

But the players they sold were invested in right? Suarez and Coutinho. Suarez 22 million, same day as Andy Carroll for 35 million.

Coutinho for 8 million. Best bit of business ever flogging him.

There has been big investment into Liverpool, mate. To deny otherwise and to claim some moralistic high ground because of it is plain weird to me

Liverpool have sold one key first team player under Klopp. Spurs have sold one under Poch and Chelsea have sold 1 each under Sarri and Conte.

Carroll + Suarez bought off Torres money, mate.

Who?

Torres didn’t sign on a free either lad.

Matic and Courtois.

I never said he did … The club obviously buy players - every club does - but in comparison to Chelsea and the Manchesters, Liverpool have to be a lot more prudent.

Liverpool choose to be more prudent.

Manchester City have walked away from numerous transfer deals in the last 4 or 5 years because they felt the price wasn’t right.
The initial outlay was because they had a shit squad, money was spent, a lot squandered trying to get in a squad.
The investment has and will continue to repay itself for Cities owners, very similar to Chelsea. Massive up front investment to get there and continual investment to maintain.
Both clubs are self sufficient now.

Any griping is because they aren’t traditionally the big clubs, the Arsenals, Uniteds and Liverpools who basically had the Premier League turned into a cabal.

Also, oil money is dirty

No fucking chance. I’m at my worst when right.

let me know when that happens

You should know by now that arguing with @Nembo_Kid has nothing to do with being right

Go way you langer.

Liverpool simply dont have the resources to spunk on transfers - they have to sell to balance the book … I think Klopp is around £80M net spend in 4 years. Pep is at + £450m

:astonished:

How in Gods name did I mix you guys up?

City are a bigger club now than Liverpool are, that is just a fact.

When City had no money and Liverpool, Utd and Arsenal were winning trophies they were the only big boys in town able to spend money

Such is football, investment = success
