Liverpool FC 2016/17/ Mousey's stag in Tipp town

He’s also won 2 cups in 12 years. Maybe you plan on giving Klopp a 10 year year trophy exemption, good thing he only has 5 more to go!

Lolz

They say Liverpool fans are a naive bunch but this is truly taking the biscuit. Being duped by a £7m a year manager who has yet to bring a trophy because he is media savvy.

Lolz.

You’re trying way too hard, pal. You’re seriously rattled. Relax, it’s the weekend.

The Kult of Klopp has got to you and you don’t like it being pointed out.

Maybe he’ll give you a few lolz in a presser and that’ll justify his salary.

I thought Liverpool were looking for a manager rather than an expensively remunerated jester.

Meep, meep…

The Celtic lads have suddenly developed a serious complex over how Liverpool “treated” Rodgers. I wonder would they give a bollox if he was manager of Preston North End or Brighton & Hove Albion right now.

Kult of Klopp.

I would. I love the man. My “good luck with everything Brendan Rodgers” thread pre-dates his involvement with Celtic by years.

You’re an exception to the rule, a very level headed and fair individual.

As posters go, I would hold you in very high esteem

I just find it odd that Liverpool fans have such double standards between Klopp and Rodgers.

I’ve mentioned recently here that I really liked Rodgers, he produced the best football I’ve ever seen Liverpool play. The 2014 season was fantastic. He was very unlucky the way things worked out (losing Suarez and the effect that had on other players).

You have a point regarding the cult of klopp, he’s the media darling but I have a sinking feeling that the next few months is not going to be pleasant viewing as the squad isn’t deep enough to cope with injuries and fatigue and that’s probably Klopp’s fault

Rodgers got a lot of flack about how naive his sides were at defending and holding out in games they really should have put to bed.

A lot of these frailties look every bit as much part of the furniture under Klopp as they did with Rodgers. I just find the contrast in reaction to the two managers baffling. It seemed to be Rodgers fault but Klopp doesn’t seem to have to share that blame.

I agree with you here, Liverpool’s defensive problems have not improved under Klopp. I think Matip is an improvement and Lovren is better than he was under Rodgers but they still make silly mistakes and are unable to defend as a cohesive unit and see out games with the confidence of a title contender

As I said.

I just find the double standards odd.

Klopp was in charge of Liverpool for 30 league games last term.

His points avg in those games applied over the course of a 38 game season would have been 61 points. Rodgers got 61 points in his first season where he had European football and finished 7th, Klopp finished 8th and his avg ppg applied over a 38 game season was 61 points.

Rodgers finished 2nd in his second season with 84 points, taking the title to the last day of the season. Like this season, Rodgers did not have European football to contend with. Klopp is currently 2nd and on course for 84 points if you apply the avg points per game to a 38 game season. Again, very much little of a difference.

Rodger’s third season finished 6th in third season with 62 points after losing Suarez and also dealing with European football that year.

So far there’s a very familiar trajectory which is why I find the contrast so bizarre.

Kult of Klopp - I think @Rocko nailed it and the only reason for the differing perceptions is the way they handle the media.

Klopp is on a salary of double what Rodgers was on.

Liverpool were 3 points behind Leicester when Klopp was appointed last season.

They finished the league 21 points behind Leicester.

They were dialling it in at the end of the season. Focusing on the Europa League.

That worked out well for them.

Thems the breaks.
