Maybe look at dates instead of scanning headlines like a dullard.

Iā€™d say we might go in for Darwin Nunez or Nkunku from Leipzig if Sadio lad does decide that he has no more worlds to conquer. Reports today linking us with some Terrier lad who plays in Ligue 1. As @Cheasty mentioned Jude Bellingham would be the dream addition to midfield. Iā€™m sure weā€™ll be caught by surprise as always with a couple of thrifty unheralded signings that turn out to be brilliant.

27 May 2022. Your tetchiness suggests you may have got caught up in this fake ticket scandal yourself?

The whole mane thing seems very strange. Arguably the best player at near the peak of his powers is leaving one of the best three teams in the world where he seems extremely happy playing for the worldā€™s best manager and with a unified squad. Heā€™s leaving for a pittance and there doesnā€™t seem to be a suggestion heā€™s doing it for personal gain. Heā€™s also ā€˜onlyā€™ won a couple of major honours and it seems would still have unfinished business in that way. And no one seems to be batting an eyelid :person_shrugging:t2::person_shrugging:t2:

Bellingham and Nunez would enable Liverpool to really go again.

I suspect thereā€™ll be cheaper versions of them out there that Julian has lined up. Theyā€™re on an excel spreadsheet

Those who have wanted out from Kloppā€™s Liverpool havenā€™t exactly set the world on fire since - Coutinho, Can, Wijnaldum, etc.

United willing to pay 85 million for Nunez. Theyā€™d probably give him half a million a week wages. Liverpool will offer about quarter that a week.

Coutinho was the only one of them deemed a big loss when he left though. Mane is probably their best player this season. Is there something Iā€™m missing about why heā€™s leaving or why nobody seems that surprised or worried?

I suppose itā€™s the fact that he only has a year left on his contract that is the main factor here. Liverpool donā€™t want to lose him for nothing next summer. Maybe his wage demands are too much, but of course this could all be a ploy to manufacture a new contract too. Heā€™s 30 now, still very much in his prime but Liverpool must have a decent replacement lined up. We have no reason to doubt them after Coutinho in Jan 2018.

The perplexing thing is that he could be bought for anything over Ā£25 million. Even with just 12 months left on his contract heā€™d surely be valued at somewhere closer to Ā£50-60 million. 6 years is a long time in football though and heā€™s had some great days. Won every major honour at Liverpool who had just finished 8th when he arrived.

sadio does his own thing

Mane weighed yp the odds and has confirmed he cannot live the shame of being associated with Liverpool anymore. A few Kop lifers text me saying similar last couple of days

Sadio is a magnificent man and owes the club nothing. Simultaneously extending himself and Salah on mega wages as they enter their thirties may be a step too far for a frugal club.

Yeah itā€™s very weird especially the fee. I canā€™t think of an equivalent leaving such a good team to join a worse team.

A hall of famer. His cheeky grin and wonderful generosity will never be forgotten. Even the best teams have to be freshened up eventually.

Take a day off.

These Hall of Famers have won it all and play in a gruelling league in a team that canā€™t afford to rotate them. A lot to be said for a new challenge with Bayern/PSG in an easier League as they wind down towards retirement.
