Liverpool Football Club 2022/23

united have always been able to attract the big stars to the club

Liverpool have a wonderful little tradition of following up UEFA Cup/Europa League success or final appearances with Champions League/European Cup glory. The teams who captured “Old Big Ears” in 1977, 2005 and 2019 were all preceded by uplifting runs in the secondary competition. I’d expect a similar turn of events again. This Liverpool team would be capable of replicating Porto’s achievements of 2003 and 2004 imo. UEFA Cup and Champions League back to back.

What are the respective finishing positions post Fergie era?

The Manchester Reds are positively giddy. The Glazers largesse has them back in the mix again. Great for the lads who are back following the soccer.

Any team beaten 7-0 should voluntarily forfeit their Champions League spot.

Aaaawwww. Sorry Mikey. This is like the time ye wanted a special trophy for best 2nd finish ever…

Ah we’ll get that one retrospectively awarded once City are thrun out for cheating.

so will Man U?

Hmm

If they are retrospectively awarded 34 points and a goal difference of +79 then yes, they will pip Liverpool for the 21/22 premier league title, assuming City are punished for cheating.

Don’t worry mate. Liverpool fans behave very well at UEFA Cup finals. They’re still revered in Dortmund for their jovial antics in 2001.

I’ve just typed that out there but I’m 99% my facts are correct. A cumulative points tally over the last 10 years would be interesting. I’d imagine Liverpool would be about 100 points ahead.

Edit: I’ve done the maths there.

Liverpool: Cumulative points tally: 2013-2023: 780

Man United: Cumulative points tally 2013-2023: 686
