Rodgers lamented some of the decisions today, and I’ll agree with him in regards the second peno, Long dived. He also said there are gonna be more days like today, i.e losing, and I guess when trying to turn a team in a new direction you are gonna have a few bumbs along the way. But it was the attitude that pissed me off today, Gerrard is either not fully match fit or uninterested. Downing should be kneecapped and sodomized with a red hot poker. Joe Cole and Carragher should be no where near the first team either and I was very disappointed to see them both come on. Lucas was decent but is still only about 80% , Allen was very good, Borini not so good.
There are positives, they played well for an hour and produced moments of decent quality passing, but like last season, goal scoring is our achilles heel.
Where did Borini play?
Somewhere on the left tho he drifted in field a lot. Nervy start from him tho he did link up well a couple of times with Suarez.
Borini is an all or nothing player so playing him on the left isn’t going to work. When you play the role of a wide attacker cutting in you need to have gears in your game where you can slow play down and the inject some pace into the game, Borini would not be the most subtle dribbler either. Borini should be employed on the wide right of a front three or through the middle as it allows him to use his biggest qualities together - the intensity to his game, his pace and his goalscoring instincts.
The new Moroccan is a left sided player, and I’m hoping after today that that’s the end of Downing which might facilitate Borini on the right. Downing will probably be first name down on the sheet next week though.

I hate Downing. I really hate him.
The new kit looked a horrible washed out shade of red like that kit we had in the treble season. Not proper Liverpool blood red. But we were successful before in that washed out shade so I have no doubt we’ll be successful again in it.
To be fair lads those 2 penalties were just bizarre and the type that happen once or twice a season. Gera’s goal is an early contender for goal of the season. Down to 10 men on the first day of the season most teams will struggle.
