Local and European election candidates

Hayes is way higher on tallies than the RTE exit poll which is beginning to look unreliable.
Some other observations for fingallians. Cian o callaghan is a fine example of a councillor doing the job right.
Ni laoi struggled in howth, where she is from, but picked up a tonne of votes elsewhere.
Jimmy guerin looks like fat tony from the simpsons.
O brien commands the dancingbaby’s crew very well. The spirit of gvwright is alive and kicking in malahide.
There are some amount of people here who think they are really important.
Saw Jimmy getting into his Jag at the polling station last night.
Sinn Fein has elected it’s first rural Limerick councillor as Lisa-Marie Sheehy takes the third seat in Cappamore/Kilmallock. Independent Brigid Teefy topped the poll followed by Eddie Ryan of FF. All three elected on the first count.

@glasagusban @Mark Renton any idea what’s happening in the City? I’m hearing Diarmuid Scully is getting hosed and Seighin O Ceallaigh of SF will sail home in City East.
Is Iron Mike in trouble in Cappamore/Kilmallock?

Looks that way but I reckon he’ll just about hold on. The last seat will go to FG and it’s between Iron Mike and John Egan (both FG) Houlihan has about 6.9% against 5.5% for Egan and that should see him home.

Labour bucking the national trend in Limerick City with Elena Secas set to be elected for the first time and Joe Leddin polling strongly.

@Juhniallio et al - could you please put the parties beside the names when discussing local candidates? This would aid my enjoyment and understanding of the count analysis. Thank you, all.

A fair question. To help you so far, Juhniallio reckons the following 8 will get in:

O Callaghan (Independent, ex Labour)
O Brien (FF)
Ni Laoi (SF)
Guernin (Ind, brother of Veronica)
Lavin (FG)
Healy (Green)
McDonagh (Lab)
Redmond (FG, cunt)

The Jim Kemmy vote.

Dublin West by-election tallies:

Coppinger (SP) 21%
Donnelly (SF) 21%
McGuinness (FF) 17%
Hall (Ind) 13%
Coughlan (FG) 13%
O Gorman (GP): 6%
Mulligan (Lab) 5%

Very strong showing from an unheralded SF candidate. Probably still Coppinger’s to lose but all to play for between the top 3.

18 of 44 boxes opened in Adare-Rathkeale area.

Neville, Tom FG is 14.9%, Keary, Stephen FG on 14% and O’Brien, Emmet IND 13.8%.

Christ looking fianna fail getting no candidate in west limerick ! Surprised O’Brien is polling so well but in fairness to him he ran a massive campaign

Lowry’s group sweeping the boards in tipp

@TreatyStones your mate lisa looks in trouble

Deirdre?

How are the candidates of the left doing lads? Is it time to buy a red flag?

Sorry, but yeah

To be fair O’Brien is FF in all but name. For an independent he had a big machine behind him, huge amount of posters around the place. Will be interesting to see who gets the last couple of seats, looks like a dogfight.

Theresa Heaney, Catholic Democrats, struggling in Ireland South. :stuck_out_tongue:

25 of 44 Boxes opened Adare-Rathkeale

Neville FG 14.7%, O’Brien IND 13.6%, Keary FG 12.7%

SF on course to be largest party in Dublin City Council.

Mairéad Farrell’s niece looks like picking up a seat in Galway.

Kenneth Egan fighting hard to win a council seat in Clondalkin. He’ll be looking closely at the unboxing of the remaining votes.

Meanwhile Eamonn Coghlan looks set to lose his race in Dublin West.
