Managerial Merrygoround Thread

Crazy decision at an increasingly crzy club. Feel some sympathy for Hughes, he was appointed at a time when City were just another mid-table premiership club. Probably felt that it was a nice step up from Blackburn but not too much for him to handle…then the arabs arrive with bucketloads of cash and suddenly the goalposts move. Did well to ride the rollercoaster there for as long as he did. Will Mancini be any improvement? After all no-one has been in a hurry to appoint him to a big club since he was sacked by Inter. Either way will he get time to prove himself? Or will City become another Chelsea?

3 titles my hole. One of them he finished in third place, the second two were effectively handed to him by default because Juve were relegated and Milan were in decline. Inter never did anything in Europe under him.

It’s still more than anything Hughes has done. Inter haven’t done anything in Europe under Mourinho in fairness.

Mancini is certainly not unproven.

I have no sympathy for Hughes whatsoever. He knew the type of job he was in and the flip side to him having all the money in the world was that he could be sacked at the drop of a hat.

Delighted to see Hughes sacked, coont. How dare he tell Arsene to fook off.

He’ll end up somewhere like Bolton now.

Agree, Man Utd won their titles by default too as Aston Villa were in decline…

Good enough for him but it does sound like he was treated fairly harshly:

“Mark Hughes has confirmed, in a statement issued by the League Managers’ Association, that he was not informed he was going to be sacked before Manchester City’s game with Sunderland.”

Again, Hughes sold Dunne, fuck him.

I believe what Sid meant was that Mancini won a league after Juventus were relegated and the following season, where he won the league again, Milan were docked a stack of points having been caught up in the match fixing scandal.

I prefer, Hughes played for United, fuck him.

Personally, I prefer Hughes played for United, fuck him.

I always rated Hughes as a good manager and what has happened at Man City hasn’t really changed my opinion. I don’t think he was given sufficient time to build a team and to allow them to gel. I have absolutely no doubt that he will be back managing in the Premiership again at some point.

Craig Levein looks as though he will be the next Scotland manager…

Thought it was a fair enough chop myself. Didnt think City were going anywhere with Hughes in charge. He had no idea of what formation to use, players to play, substitutions, transfers etc

No guarantee that the new man will either but he is a better bet.

I thought Dan Petrescu was a shoe-in for that?

The Scottish boys came out and said that after Bertie Vogts they were reluctant to go for a foreigner again.

Don’t you mean Berti McVogts?

That Garry Cook chap at Manchester City couldn’t possibly come across any worse if he tried.

Megson sacked by Bolton.

Hughes to take over?

Owen Coyle is favourite to take over now at Bolton.
