Managerial Merrygoround Thread

They were bate at the weekend so you can stick a pin in that fella.

Some story

Ah he cant have too many complaints either, his striking options were utter scrap and he didnt do much to improve it. He did well sure, but they’d about 6 shots on goal in 15 matches*, it wasn’t good.

*Slight exaggeration.

He spent feck all money and I can only assume that none was being made available,

When he took them over they were in an awful state with half the squad out of contract. I think he did an excellent job keeping them up last season and deserved more after admittedly a bad run of results.

He shoulda walked then if he wasn’t being given money to spend.

They went with a safe pair of hands and if imagine Hodgson knows most of those players already from his time there.

It seems clear they panicked getting rid of Vieira as they had nothing at all lined up.

If they win 4 more games they will survive. Might even survive if they win 3 more as they are playing all 8 sides below them.

Watford brought him in to save them last season and he didn’t. Not sure he is an immediate impact type of manager. As you say he will have a head start with Palace tbf.

It’s an odd appointment for a team that are fairly solid defensively already with no attacking threat

They’d be better off with The Big Sam

Coining that phrase was about the only contribution Ronald Koeman made to Everton.

Think there was a big turnover of players at the end of the Hodgson era in summer 2021. Most of his loyal lieutenants are gone. Vieira would have kept them up comfortably in the end. A ridiculous decision.

Informative. Always assumed it was Pep Guardiola who coined that phrase.

Crystal Palace last 10 games. Arsenal, Brighton X 2, Villa, Liverpool, City, Brentford, United X 2, Newcastle. They got 5 draws in those games. All those teams including new bounce Villa are much better than them. All will finish top ten.

Next 6 games are Leicester, Leeds, Southampton, Everton, Wolves, and West Ham
All those teams are very beatable. All will finish bottom 10.

Roy will probably win 2 or 3 of them. Lift them out of the shit and receive widespread plaudits

Football. It’s a funny old game

Oul’ Jim up the road here could manage Casino Salzburg to a 20 game unbeaten run in the Austrian League.

Is it fair to say anybody could manage those guys? Yes, yes it is.

Seems like this may be immediate rather than at the end of the season?

There’s a grand oul’ record of managers coming during the season and winning or reaching the final of the Champions League.

What’s the craic there?

Saw a headline online last week where manager was claiming he had an informer leaking team news to the media.

Bild published information about elements of Bayern Munich’s tactics which was claimed to come from inside the camp but apparently was only to do with positioning at kickouts or some such, which is easily obtainable by looking at games.

Nagelsmann went on a massive rant about moles.

Nagelsmann is a hipster.

I’d say you might have to get used to seeing more of him
