Oh dear
Olegend.
McLeish to Villa
TFK Exclusive OGS has not turned down AVFC and will leave Molde when officially offered the job early next week
Owen Coyle now being linked with Aston Villa after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer turned down the job yesterday.
Well done bandage, as always you have your finger on the pulse of all things EPL
================================================================
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has pulled out of the running to become the new Aston Villa manager.
The former Manchester United striker, currently manager of Norwegian side Molde, was interviewed by Villa owner Randy Lerner over the weekend.
But Solskjaer has opted not to be considered as Alex McLeish’s successor for personal reasons.
Solskjaer was the favourite with the bookmakers to take charge of Villa who only just avoided relegation from the Premier League.
But sources close to the club are keen to stress Solskjaer was never offered the job by Lerner.
Lerner and chief executive Paul Faulkner will now step up their bid in other directions to replace McLeish.
Brendan Rodgers (Swansea), Paul Lambert (Norwich) and Roberto Martinez (Wigan) are potential candidates.
Rodgers and Lambert impressed with their respective clubs during their first season in the Premier League although it is understood Villa have yet to approach either club.
Martinez turned down the chance to take charge at Villa last summer after Gerard Houllier was forced to quit on health grounds.
Paul Lambert threw a hissy fit when questioned about the AVFC job last night. Can’t access Youtube but it sounded funny on the radio. He won’t be leaving Norwich anyway.

Whoever is backing Molde threatened to withdraw all financial support from the club if OGS walked.
Simon Grayson eh. shit former Villa player, shit lower league manager. probably fits the bill
Thanks Puke. Seems Solskjaer thinks this Moldy crowd are a bigger proposition than Birmingham Aston Villa. Having spoken to the owner and presumably listened to his plans Solskjaer appears very well placed to make that conclusion.
a pub team from Norway is a bigger draw than villa
Looks as though Claudio Ranieri is going to be the next West Brom manager
Huh? Hughton is still favourite with all firms. Ranieri as big as 6/1 with Ladbrokes.
They had a second round of talks with him yesterday while no approach whatsoever has been made for Hughton. Claudio would be a far superior appointment
I’d agree. Would find it odd that he’s available at such a big price if it’s such a foregone conclusion.
charge?
If you’re that way inclined then go for it. I’d have betting on managerial appointments just above the eurovision on my list of stuff never to bet on.
Ralf Rangnick (ex Schalke/Hoffenheim and others) is heavily linked with the West Brom job today. Would be an excellent appointment if he’s over his health issues.
Did Villa get around to appointing a manager yet?
