I posted up a picture a wee bit back of the press conference announcing him.
Yes it was put on hold but everything has now been sorted.
Burnley and Wigan now seen as bigger clubs than former European champions Glasgow Celtic is sad to see.
I see motherwell have had a better response to their vacant managerial position than Celtic, two high profile former international managers have been interviewed for the job…
Best of luck to both Staunton and Sanchez in their quest for the job

Has Paulo Sousa accepted the Swansea job? Some fall in fairness for a fella who not so long ago was managing champions league side Sporting Lisbon.
He was managing QPR last I heard of him.
Was it not Paolo Bento that was/is managing Sporting Lisbon?
best of luck to the big man- although he will be missed from our screens & radio
Always an interesting listen is Rody, did he ever find his jacket in the taxi after?
West Bromwich Albion have appointed Roberto Di Matteo as their new head coach, the 39-year-old signing a 12-month rolling contract with the aim of taking the club back into the Premier League. The Italian arrives with just one year’s coaching experience under his belt after being appointed MK Dons manager last summer.
It’s an interesting trend over in England with even lesser clubs moving away from your traditional kick and rush, heave and hack ‘British’ style manager and getting younger, progressive coaches who’ve experience of normal football. You look at Sousa, Di Martinez and Di Matteo for example.
Difficult to say if its a trend yet though, looks EPL side Spurs who sacked the continental manager in favour of 'Arry as soon as things got rough. However that is Spurs I guess.
Roberto Martinez isnt that the guy that turned down former European Cup winners Glasgow Celtic to take the job at Wigan Athletic?
Maybe Glasgow Celtic were just too much kick and rush for him although maybe he thought they were just shit in every sense too.

I wasn’t privy to the private and confidential discussions that took place between the clubs and I don’t believe you were either. Ergo, the certainty in your tone is misplaced on this occasion.

eh…but he would be the manager…surely he could change the tactics…being the manager!!!..
He saw Wigan as a better proposition than Glasgow Celtic. If anything he forced Wigan’s hand and used Glasgow Celtic as a pawn. Similar to how Keane used them for a last pay day etc. Also Coyle saw Burnley as better so did Fletcher, Irvine saw Preston as better too.
Its sad actually but the superiority complex of Glasgow supporters is sickeningly deluded anyway. They now know their worth and place in the current scheme of things.

Again, the certainty in your tone is misplaced. You’re making statements without any quotes to actually back them up. Alan Irvine? Give over. Keane actually took a significant pay cut to fit into Celtic’s wage structure - I imagine he would have commanded much higher salaries elsewhere, especially in the financially rich but bankrupt in terms of football quality, dash and verve environment of the EPL; however he was adamant he wanted to join Celtic. It’s just a pity that the player who dominated English football for a decade was only capable of becoming a bit part player at Celtic Park.
That would in fact be correct. Sousa was assistant to Queroz with Portugal.
What age did Keane go to Parkhead at? 32/33 Id say. He was totally finished as a midfielder at the highest level anyway - injuries had crippled him and his notion of still thinking he was the greatest midfielder in Europe was long since a distant memory.
He had become poisionous in the dressing room as a result and there were little teams in truth interested in taking him on. Nothing worse that a self important declining player imo. Strachan knew all this and was reluctant to take him even on a free after he was sacked by United.
But Dermot Desmond et al still wanted Keane as they stupidly believed he still had what it took at the highest level but calculated that Keane would sell enough jerseys, bring in sponsors etc to keep the club afloat even if things went sour. As a result they went behind their manager’s back and broke the club wage structure on a one off gamble.
After Keane jacked it in after what four months its debatable if he brought in that much money especially as I think he probably was taking a cut of everything he brought in anyway. Imo Keane treated Glasgow Celtic like absolute shit and any fair minded fan would despise him for using the club as a gravy train.
Do I need any quotes to back that up?
