Stuttgart and Wolfsburg had won titles in two of three previous seasons before he took charge of Bayern.
Atletico and Real had won the preceding titles the seasons before he took charge of Barca.

The fact that a club like Arsenal who effectively haven’t competed to win the League in a decade come in 4th year in year out says it all. Even Man U in their so called season horriblus in finishing 7th recorded 10 wins and 1 draw from 11 away games against the sides finishing in the bottom 11 places. A good 12-13 teams in the EPL are utter muck every year and more or less roll over against the top team.
If you look at the 22 year timespan of the EPL, its thrown up just five winners Man U (13), Arsenal (3), Chelsea (3) Man City (2) Blackburn (1)
Bundesliga in that timespan has thrown up 6 winners - Bayern (12), Dortmund (5), Werder Bremen (2), Kaiserslautern (1), Stuttgart (1), Wolfsburg (1)
Spain has had 5 winners - Barcelona (10), Real Madrid (7), Atletico Madrid (2), Valencia (2), Deportivo La Coruna (1)
Holland has had 5 winners - Ajax (10), Eindhoven (8), Feyenoord (2), Twente (1), AZ Alkmaar (1)
Italy has had 5 winners - Juventus (8), Milan (6), Inter (5), Roma (1), Lazio (1)

Not sure what your point is here? They all have only had 5 winners bar Germany which has had only 6
The point is its a myth that the EPL is the bastion of competitiveness that a lot of people seem to think. Its on a par and possibly even a bit more uncompetitive than all the other major leagues in Europe.
That seems to be the way the people that run the EPL want it too. You would have thought the fall of the team who has dominated it for 20+ years from 1 to 7 would have been welcomed as a sign of change and variety. Not a bit of it. Richard Scudamore the head of the EPL was moaning only the other week about how damaging Man U’s bad season was to the EPL’s brand.
But it depends on who that competitor is. Finishing ahead of Barcelona or Real Madrid is more difficult than finishing ahead of Liverpool or Arsenal.
Has a Dutch manager ever made an impact in the English league.
At least his dutch arrogance and self confidence won’t let him be photographed walking around with Ferguson’s autobiography getting on a plane before a champions league match
Serious re-build of the squad is required and his success will be depend on whether he get’s the money required from the Glazer’s to get in players to get United back to the top where they should be.
Report’s of Fabregas and Robben being his target’s would want to be wide of the mark in my opinion
I see Paul Scholes’ quotes today about Rooney being past his best. 5-year deal on £300k per week still to run, of course.
Evra has signed a new 1 year contract.
Lovely.
I predict this appointment will end in failure and more recrimination. There’s more than a whiff of yesterday’s man about Van Gaal. Man U have essentially gone for a big name whose major achievements are a long time in the past, a bit like Giovanni Trapattoni getting the Eire job. Actually this appointment is probably more like Scolari going to Chelsea or Dalglish returning to Liverpool. Looked good on paper, but two guys around the 60 mark who were yesterday’s men at club level and failed.
The template in management now is what Atletico Madrid, Everton, Liverpool and Barcelona (in the not too distant past) have gone with, young dynamic managers in their early 40’s.

Post of the year.
Ya but all the glaziers are interested in is getting back in the champions league. This should be doable has half the clubs in the epl show the belly at the first sign of a united jersey. He will then be paraded as a roaring success. They only need a couple of players to be competing for a top four.
Condolences to all forum Manchester United supporters on the sad passing of your dear owner Malcolm Glazer.
The family have asked that all funeral attendees wear green and yellow.

If only the debt died with him!
It’s like when Thatcher died.
If only the class of 92 died with him
