Manchester United 2022/23 - The Reign of ETH

I reckon De Jong and Martinez follow this week.

Laporte just fucking anout trying to make it look like the player forced the move.

FAO @Pirlo

Youre still in last seasonā€™s thread.

Last season was so good for Yanited that lads are slow to move on from it.

Theyā€™re moving on to Martinez now apparently.

All trundling along nicely.

Why are they signing de jong? Is he not more of a playmakery eriksen Fernandez van de beek type rather than a replacement for mctominay or Fred that they need?

No heā€™s deeper and apparently used to play more like Busquets under ETH. Supposed to be excellent at controlling everything from a double pivot.

Currently looking at something like this as the first choice starting XI

De Gea
Dalot
Varane
Martinez
Malacia/Shaw until he gets found out
De Jong
Eriksen
Sancho
Bruno
Rashford
CR7

Rotate in Lindelof, Maguire, VDB, Fred, McTominay, Garner, Elanga and Hannibal.

Probably left a few out.

You left Rashford in ffs. That lad isnā€™t up to it.

Would De Jong not be more of a Thiago type player? That midfield looks extremely open and lacking in graft. Need a proper enforcer there in the Fabinho/Rodri mould. West Ham would probably demand a fortune for Declan Rice though.

De Jong and Eriksen are good footballers but would struggle coming up against 3 man midfields.

De Jong is more defensive than Thiago but still not an enforcer type either

West Ham will eventually let Rice leave next season for about ā‚¬60 and they could have got ā‚¬90m upwards for him this summer.

Enforcer is a massive need. However, given the meticulous planning that ETH is renowned for Im sure he has something planning. Martinez has played that DM role over 20 times for Ajax according to an article in MEN today.

My sources are saying that Ronaldo (and all Red Devils players ) have a clause in their contract that stipulates a 25 per cent salary cut if they donā€™t qualify for Champions League. It would explain Ronaldo not showing up to train yesterday.

That was well known last season. Your sources are a bit behind.

Heā€™s been given indefinite leave so thereā€™s either a move coming or, and hopefully not, there is actually a serious family issue that theyā€™re dealing with.

Heā€™ll come back fat as a fool, wait and see.

Ten hag will have him running wire to wires like the bomber Liston below in Fitzgerald stadium
