Manchester United 2022/23 - The Reign of ETH

Is this the loss of his child or is there something else?

They haven’t elaborated so anything currently is just idle speculation.

Surely what Man Utd needed this summer was decisive moves in the transfer market, both in and out.

Six weeks in and loads of speculation without anything decisive.

It’s a complete shitshow.

United need to move on from Ronaldo but they’ll need to replace his goals. Ideally you’d like to see Sancho playing higher up the pitch and becoming more of a goal threat but even if they get De Jong they are still short in midfield. They could really do with Kante, Wijnaldum, Fernandinho high energy type midfielder along with a top forward

To be fair the entire transfer and scouting team have departed, in much the same way as they did the summer after Fergie retired.

To have two transfers completed, two more 90% done and a good few outgoings is not too bad considering. Could be better but there’s still time.

What is the story with De Jong? It seems like he’s been on the verge of moving for weeks now.

Manchester United will score more goals without Ronaldo because they aren’t going to be carrying a player who disrupts how a team functions. Ronaldo reduces the amount of goals a team scores.

The one thing they need to do this summer, irrelevant of any signings, is get shot of him. Even if they signed nobody, they’d be a better team without him.

The problem for Manchester United is no serious club will sign him.

The reliable reports like Fabrizio and Ornstein are saying that €65m fee has been agreed but there are negotiations ongoing over the make up of the bonuses that will bring the fee up to €80-€85m in the long term.

The comments from Laporte last weekend were practically a cut and paste of his comments on Messi from last summer. ‘We want the player to stay but we want to pay them way less. If they leave they don’t love us’.

De Jong’s agent is being pictured around Carrington so personal terms are likely agreed.

Just need to agree the bonus structure with Barcelona.

£85m fee and 400k pw deal agreed as per my sources :eyes:

You need new sources.

Fabrizio literally says it’s an £85m deal and he won’t be taking a salary cut :man_shrugging:

I don’t think you know what ‘literally’ means.

Salary cut was a reference to Laporte’s comments about De Jong staying at Barcelona on a much lower wage.

It’s in the screenshot above. 65+20=85. :man_shrugging:

A Good Samaritan type like @flattythehurdler should keep an eye out for Frankie around Greater Manchester. Maybe help him with the settling in process. Really sounds like he doesn’t want to be living there.

united are dominating this window

Ah, see I didnt realise that you cant see thr difference between an £ and a €.

At today’s rate it would be around £55m with £17m in bonuses. Wages around €£295,000 per week if he gets exactly the same deal as he has at Barcelona. As per XE.com.

Nice bit of business.

Mate, there is no difference between € and £. Next you’ll be telling me Darwin Nunez didn’t cost £100m.

Ah I’m sorry, I didn’t realise that you’re a complete idiot.

Sorry bud, you’re right. Only a complete idiot would follow that kind of logic.

Frenkie is a good player. Will be a five addition to the EPL.
