Manchester United 2022/23 - The Reign of ETH

The INTERNET never forgets. Explaining is losing but I hammed Manchester United up on occasion to try to irk rival Footix. That said, there were a couple of brief periods when Ten Hag looked to be settling into the job & getting a tune out of them. He even seemed to be embedding a structure at one stage in the first season around the time of that League Cup win. So I wouldn’t deny the general thrust of that post, just it was exaggerating matters. I’m pretty sure I have a post at the end of that season where I said that the Anfield 7-0 effectively ripped up any progress, & it was the type of humbling to a rival that has long lasting implications & they were going nowhere under him.

As last season went on, it became obvious that they had no IDENTITY & were just a collection of individuals, some of them not up to the required standard irrespective of manager, scratching around. You’d see teams like Bournemouth & Brentford playing to a particular pattern & with well rehearsed tactics & outplaying them. They’d still win every other game due to individual interventions, a bit of tradition, being willed on by fans/referees etc but there wasn’t any foundation to build a team that could challenge in the league. It was mad how these lower ranking clubs would just run through their midfield - they couldn’t or didn’t want to run. Eriksen, Casemiro, McTominay & those lads. Bizarre how you could spend so much money to end up with such a poor squad.

In a strange way (Bill), not having any tactics sometimes worked against the top sides - not being able to get possession makes you end up playing like a minnow in desperately defending your box, kicking it away & getting a few breakaway goals when teams have overcommitted. The FA Cup win muddied the waters, as they were absolutely shite last season & the new owners bottled getting rid of him after that.

It will be interesting who they go for now. Brendan Rodgers would be the obvious choice.

Sutty and Schmeichel discussing the sacking on the monday night club just now.

Yet another sacking. Seems Ferguson truly was the exception to the rule at the sacking club. And they even sacked him last week.

Apparently it is well known amongst the minimum wagers as a sacking club.

They sacked half the staff

The new hipster fella they are getting who West Ham turned down will be driving the bus and cooking the dinners as well as coaching the team.

Pogs training with united, be a great signing

Now that the ghost of Banquo is no longer about the place, it’s time for him to come home.

He’d be a very decent chap to give them another chance

JJ Gabriel is there as well. Both Lacey and him have Irish roots.
Wont make a blind bit of difference anyway. They will declare for Engerland as thats where the most money is to be made.

And they’re English

Genuine question. Why is he training with England when he has barely played a minute for united?

Must be great for Shay to train with a team and not have to wash his own gear.

Not sure in this specific circumstance tbh but you’d see in rugby some times where a lad from the 20s would train with the seniors.

He’s outrageously talented but has had a mare with injuries.

Six or seven lads ready to break into the first team squad soon which should be very exciting.

That’s nothing. I’ve seen mere youths win senior medals

So we can expect him to be brain damaged shortly

Think it’s historically very common for a few underage internationals to join senior training for the experience & to make up numbers for training games, more so if they’re based at the same camp.

Sounds exactly like when I got a run out for the u14s when I was 11 because I was at my older cousin’s house when they collected him for the match. They threw me on for the last ten minutes against Borris-Illeigh
