Wasnât a matter of that. They didnât want them, Ferguson or the board, for whatever reason.
Silva was a World Cup winner, played every match for Spain.
Toure was a Champions League winner with Barca, played every game.
Aguero was one of the top forwards in Spain.
Kompany was one of the top young centre backs in Europe.
There didnât need to be much scouting as everybody knew about these guys.
As mentioned above, Ferguson was happy not to spend money for whatever reason.

Ferguson was getting handsomely paid by the Glazers to keep the show on the road and keep his mouth shut. Remember a fixture at Blackburn when Giggs and Rio Ferdinand played in midfield because they had no one else. Ferguson left the cupboard bare but much better off financially.

Thought it was Giggs and OâShea but point stands, some of the teams he put out in his latter reign were shocking.
They beat Arsenal one day with 7 defenders and Darren Gibson in midfield, it wasnt sustainable.
Easy to blame David Moyes who didnât get any of the players he wanted/needed.

Moyes wanted Fabregas and Toni Kroos. He had the right idea and knew where problems were. Same problems still there now.
