Manchester United 21/22

They need an OGS-style manager to steady the ship

Ronny Johnsen is the man to steady the ship

Albert Morgan has signaled his interest. Would know the system inside out too.

Henning Berg looks like a serious contender. Doing a smashing job with Omonia Nicosia in Cyprus at the moment.

He won the Polish League title with Legia Warsaw. Did a solid job with Videoton in Hungary. These are big clubs who have given Manchester United plenty of it at the business end of European competitions in the past and you have to be able to handle the pressure to manage at them. That seems like excellent preparation for the hot seat at Old Trafford.

Word that Steve Bruce till end of season.

Good choice, established EPL manager.
Only downside is no Brucey bonus for the 2nd half of the season.

Darren Ferguson until the end of the season according to reports.

Just give it to keane for the rest of the year. Its the storyline we all want, and it’s an entertainment bidness

Is this Richard Arnold chap that’s negotiating the sacking in the morning package the same fellow who negotiated the new three year contract Coach Ole was handed only 6 months ago?

Whats to negotiate. He’s hardly going to negotiate to take less than he is due. And they have to fire him.

Take a million less than you are owed or else we won’t sack you :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: being a united manager is that much of a punishment these days

Isn’t the thing about Zidane is that he isn’t a particularly nuanced manager tactically? He’s very good at getting the best out of extremely talented players, it’s his force of personality that makes him stand out.

It’s one of the reasons why he was relatively unsuccessful in the league despite having an embarrassment of riches (still won 2) but is good for cup football.

Not unlike Solskjaer in a way, who gets criticised for having lots of good players but no discernible style of play.

And they’ll have to free up a parking space

After all the steady progress under Coach Ole, it’s shocking really that the first real run of bad results and they’re going to sack him. All managers and clubs have runs of bad results.

There’s no shame in losing 4-1 away to Watford. Results like that can happen. I was at White Hart Lane the day Spurs lost 1-5 to Watford in May 1985. It was the same afternoon as the Bradford fire, which put things in to perspective fairly quickly.

Wasnt Fergie on the verge of getting the boot as well before he turned it?

Was fun while it lasted

He was but Ole didn’t have a Mark Robins type character willing to dig him out of a hole.

Just looking at MOTM there and the players really fucked Ole over today, the lack of effort from them today was staggering. They stitched him up like a kipper

Sir Alex was under serious pressure at the start of 1990. They had an horrific run in the league at the end of 1989 and start of 1990 of something like 10/11 games without a league win which had them hovering around the relegation places. The narrative was basically win the FA Cup or he was gone.

Spurs beat them at Old Trafford shortly before Christmas 1989 with Gary Lineker getting the winner. We had just moved over from England shortly before. Remember watching it as the live Sports Stadium Saturday afternoon game. Spurs didn’t win again at Old Trafford for another 23 years after that.
