Xabi has no managerial experience and he’s doing a good job at Barcelona.
Pep took over Barcelona in 08 and turned them into one off the greatest club sides in the world. He was in charge off their b team and his only other managerial experience was in Mexico or some place like that.

The rot had long set in before fergie left. It was merely a miracle they won that last league title in 2013.

He should have never been involved in the appointment. He has zero track record off appointing managers.
A poor judge of a manager?
Moyes was let down badly by Woodward.
However, the job proved too big for him in thr short term as he proved in his next few roles.
West Ham hounded him out as well and he learned from that. He might have his level now, similar to Martin O’Neill.
What track record has he off judging mangers ?
Leo messi is considered the greatest footballer for all time and he started recommending signings to Barcelona and look how that ended for them.

They’re too trigger happy when it comes to sacking managers. Mourinho won a treble in his first season. Second season broke 80 points in finishing behind Pep’s centurions (which he ranks as possibly his greatest managerial achievement). Then he gets sacked a few months letter when they decide Coach Ole (lovely fellow) is the Messiah despite a managerial cv confined to managing a crowd of Norwegian fishermen and getting Cardiff City relegated.

How long did spurs give jose compared to man united ?
Simple facts is there is only so many good players around the world at one time.
If you look back at the last twenty champions leagues their is only ever 5 or 6 max very good sides in the competition.
So in reality man United are waiting for another club to become a mess or just stumble on a world class player like Barcelona with Ronaldinho.
City, real, Barcelona, liverpool, psg and Chelsea have most of the best players in the world.
You aren’t really good to sign any off them so you need to find them.
It’s not like city are going anywhere either.
