You need to hang onto your world class players as much as possible. They might not wanted to be there but one thing theyâve all got in common is the right attitude. De gea will mends asap and start performing especially with the euros in 2016. Fever won a league for a team he refused to play for 6 months earlier. Suarez wanted to leave the pool for arsenal but Liverpool held onto him and he nearly won the league for them. Bale stayed an extra season at Spurs and nearly got CL football. De gea staying is good news for United and anybody than thinks otherwise is a clown.
They have to be attainable though. Woodward hasnât been great in fairness, even the Fellaini transfer, he had a release clause, United delayed and ended up paying 4/5 million above that.
He learned a lot from the first season. Shaw, darmain, delay and martial all have massive potential. Bastian for 6 million and Morgan for 25 will turn out to be astute too.
They wouldnât go through with sale until Madrid made an offer that met their valuation, nothing at all wrong with that
In relation to leaving De Gea out, he put his house up for sale at the end of last season ffs, as far as he was concerned he was out of there. He did not expect to be at OT for pre-season.
A lot of clubs leave players out that are angling for moves, Southampton left Wanyama out, West Brom left Berahino out.
If Madrid waited till the last day to try to lowball United what are they supposed to do.
Only time will tell but United have played silly bastards here and itâs obvious theyâve been preparing for life without De Gea for a while now. That wonât have filled De Gea with much confidence. Liverpool on the other hand maintained that they needed Suarez and he was not leaving. That would have alienated Suarez but at least his confidence, self esteem and sense of importance was maintained.
He became a European champion and Liverpool slipped out of the top 4, Rodgers the spoofer then tried to replace him with the great Balotelli the rest is history,
West Ham last weekend wasnât only a blip, itâs the future for a once great club. Defensively Liverpool are absolutely shocking, if a young lad did what Lovren did last weekend he would be dropped from the team for at least 3 games.
Then everyone would be claiming what fools they were to not sell him and allow him leave for free at the end of the season.
De Gea didnât exactly help matters, rumours were that Madrid asked him not to sign a new contract and were offering him âŹ10m signing on fee.
The real crux of the issue here was after being their best player for 2 seasons, why had they not insured against this shit & extended his contract & upped the wages?
That was a serious fuck up unless he was privately told he could leave this Season?
His mind was made up, he was leaving yet Liverpool managed to get him to sign a new contract, got an amazing season out of him and sold him for shitloads more 12 months later. Now much of their transfer dealings in the past few years have been fairly abysmal but you canât say that the Suarez deal wasnât a good bit of business.
They offered him more money than Madrid were offering, over ÂŁ200k a week, he wouldnât sign.
He wants to move back to Spain, his bird doesnât like Manchester
Itâs never good business pal, when you spend the money on a great player on 3/4 average players, Iâm in agreement with you on Utdâs shoddy transfer policy over the last 2 years but I donât think they did any wrong in the De Gea saga, if anything he should have shown loyalty to the club and produced a similar great year for the club that made him his name like Suarez.
