Manchester United FC 2013/14

Could have done without Liverpool winning tonight. Hopefully City beat Spurs tomorrow night. That would leave us six points behind Pool, three behind Spurs and two behind Everton. Stoke, Fulham, Crystal Palace and West Brom in four of our next five games before hosting Liverpool. Can’t afford any more slip ups in games against that type of opposition. The other game in that run is at the Emirates. Not likely we would get anything out of that at the moment unfortunately. Pool will have played a game more than us when we meet them, as the Manchester derby was meant to be on the weekend of the COC final. They have to play Arsenal at home and go to Southampton in that period, but the rest of their fixtures look fairly easy so it’s hard to see the gap being smaller than six points (at best). In short, it will be a must win game for United.

Spurs have a tough enough run coming up (City, Everton, Newcastle, Chelsea and Arsenal in their next 8 fixtures) as well as the potential of a lot of Europa League games, so hopefully they drop some points. I’m choosing to discount Everton after tonight.

Everything looks much more positive after tonight.

Meh.

Wouldn’t be getting too excited about that display. Fairly mediocre, plodded along as we have done all season. Midfield, as expected, was fairly chronic. Mata showed glimpses of his class while Van Persie showed why he has been so badly missed.

Great goal by Young, if he is shipped out in the summer that goal should add at least 25k to his transfer fee. Cardiff were very limited, Ole has some challenge trying to keep them up.

In Moyes defence he was starting tonight without Carrick, Januzaj and Rooney. Get those three fit alongside Mata and Van Persie and hopefully the stale football we’ve had all season will be no more. Still not confident about getting 4th. Liverpool were never going to drop points tonight. Banker three points almost every season for them. Going to the Liverpool game on St Patricks weekend and already it looks like a must-win game.

Stoke away on Saturday next.

Stoke will be hard bet

We’re fucking back so we are

And there hardly will be any slip up to the whipping boys. Man U are still the best in the business when it comes to the whipping boys. Man U have played 10 games against teams from Southampton (in 9th) up and have picked up 6 points from 30 (W1 D3 L6). Against teams from 10-20, they’ve played 13 games, picking up 34 points from 39 (W11 D1 L1), the blips been conceding a last minute equaliser in Cardiff and losing at home to West Brom. The cannon fodder teams still now their place and roll over.

Means nothing if you can’t beat the top teams like Everton.

Another record gone. Losing your two centre backs to injury and conceding a deflected free sums up united season. 7th is looking like Uniteds final poistion at the moment.

It’s going to get worse before it gets better…

If we don’t get 4th we are better off coming 9th and not being in the Thursday night cup. Not having it as a distraction has worked wonders for Liverpool this season.

Horrible, horrible game today. Wind, rain, constant injuries and stoppages - it suited Stoke down to the ground. A deflection and a wonder goal just summed up the way the season has gone. European Cup qualification probably gone now.

Danny Welbeck is no-where near good enough to be playing up front for Manchester United.

A great start to that easy run of games.

That’s the kind of quote that’ll follow him around.

He’s in Brian Cowen territory now.

No it doesn’t. Getting fucked over by Fergie and generally playing shit sums up United’s season

It didnt mata who they bought, results stay the same

Utd fans reduced to blaming the weather now? wtf??

Do you see West Ham fans on here complaining about an unjust sending off?

Big Sam
