Manchester United Football Club 20/21

+1

Lot of talk about Sarr but I dont see them paying the money Watford want.

For 20m and if they also got Thiago for 10m - youā€™d be happy with that.

Man united usually have around 150 million to spend each summer. This year thereā€™ll be almost certainly 70-80 million worth of player sales.

Liverpool are spending 40 million on agent fees without signing players.

Liverpool spent 30m on agent fees and Man Utd spent 27.5m ā€¦ Liverpool player wages are nearly 100m less than Man Yoo ā€¦ Maybe Man Yoo need to pay the extra 2.5m a year to agents to keep their wage bill down?

Man united have melted your brain. Man united sign four significant players. Liverpool signed nobody. I think thatā€™s the point.

I replied to you above in a very mild mannered post , complimenting Coach Oleā€™s signings - and you went off on one about agents and net spends and all sorts ā€¦ the only one melted here is you pal. Liverpool cant live with Man Yoo financially - hardly news. I dont know why it upsets you so much.

Liverpool spent a fortune on tying down key players to large long contracts in the last few years which probably generated those agent fees and saw the overall wage bill increase as the 10 or so most important players have signed contracts commensurate with their recent status as CL/PL champions and Ballon Dā€™or nominees.

Liverpool have never had the luxury of stockpiling expensive and experienced squad players. If a Liverpool high earner isnā€™t a key player they are almost always moved on. Whereas the likes of Jones, Young, Mata, Smalling etc can hang around for years to pad out the squad and Liverpool having little depth beyond the first 16

Grealish next on OGSā€™s hitlist.

Those players arenā€™t padding the squad. They are overpaid and canā€™t be moved on.

As a united fan myself Iā€™d have to say thatā€™s not strictly correct.
Mata was out of contract last summer and given a new 2 year deal.
Young has been moved on and the club has even found a way to shift a huge earner like Sanchez on.

Liverpool are doing a good job managing their resources at present. United did not for the last number of years when Gill stepped down and Woodward took over the transfer side of things.
Hopefully the last 3 or 4 transfer windows have shown Woodward has learnt his expensive lesson and United can tighten up again. They can always spend big but it doesnā€™t have to be stupid to go with it.

Young, jones and smalling should never have been given the contracts. Even the de gea deal was nuts. Anybody with a notion could tell the Sanchez deal was crazy as well.

You wonā€™t get any disagreement from me there. The three of them should have been let go.
I suppose the only thing to factor is was the club wanted some continuity in senior playing staff and those 3 being English fell on the right side of that. There was an awful lot of sub standard players to ship out and you can only get rid of so much in one go.

The squad was way too big anyway. You want 19/20 first team players plus 6 or 7 young players who have a realistic chance of making it. At least two mid fielders should be shipped on now and two centre halves as well.

Thereā€™s a great buzz around Old Trafford according to my sources on the mainland. The big dog is back.

This is their year.

Tell Them Never.

With the money theyve thrown at it the last 12-18 months they have to win it or go very, very close.

I still think City have too much for everyone - and there wont be much between Liverpool, Utd and Chelsea in the battle for second.
