Title contenders like the Boys of 86?
Not but the jump from 75 points in 2017/8 to 97 points in 2018/9 was a ‘massive leap’.
The boys of ‘86 are the reason I support them
There’s serious momentum behind united, there’s a feel of 99 off this season already.
You’re being very critical on a Liverpool team who’ve been to two Champions League finals, winning one and who’ve twice broken the 95 point barrier culminating in the league title last season. No mean feat to beat Pep Guardiola’s heavily financed Man City team to a title.
The confidence garnered from that intoxicating run to the Champions League final proved to be a great fillip.
Exactly. Away to QPR, away to Luton Town, home to Coventry. Watched the FA Cup replay with Man Utd at @Piles_Hussain’s house as they had the BBC, 2-0 win. Loved that team.
McAvennie was a colourful character . Went up to Celtic for their centenary year . Shot the lights out there for a year .
Missed the page 3 girls in London and went back to London quickly .
Obviously before the Daily Record started doing the tittie girls so
They’ve only posted a points total in excess of 70 points once in the 7 seasons since Fergie left. Mourinho, the most successful manager in the Premier League era pulled that off topping 80 points in 2017/18 and got fired for his troubles 6 months later to make way for Ole.
It’s all very well for @BruidheanChaorthainn to talk of a rubbish standard but the points winning tally for the last three seasons was 99, 98 and 100. A good bit of ground for Ole to make up from the 66 and 66 he’s finished the last two seasons with, even if it does look increasingly likely that a tally in the 80’s could suffice to win it this season.
This is make or break season for Ole. He needs to show that he’s a managerial winner and can deliver the silverware, that’s demanded and expected at Old Trafford.
united are looking fearsome
They did play very well last night in fairness. It’s stringing long sustained runs of form together that’s proved problematic. It’s all too hot and cold. Bottom line, need to chalk up that first home league win of the season against Arsenal this weekend.
You could argue to those high points totals are evidence of a weak league given nobody could take points off City and Liverpool.
I think 85 points will win this season. City will get there. Liverpool are showing signs of breaking down physically. Spurs, Chelsea, United have to improve their consistency but the latter two have the squad depth for a slog of a season
You can’t beat that tradition. It’ll defeat many teams before the starting whistle
You can’t beat that tradition. It’ll defeat many teams before the starting whistle
The badge is worth 20 points a season. Refs still feel Ferguson’s looming presence
The league was awful last year. They English teams were humiliated in Europe.
Mourinho, the most successful manager in the Premier League era
You might want to fact check that little ditty there.
Mourinho saved Rashford, made him the player he is. united should never forget that.
It will have to be put down as a failure if Ole doesn’t deliver the title this year.
