Klopp has knocked Manchester United off their fucking perch. They must be seething

They could do worse .

Has a manager ever come up against his son in law in a derby game ??

He’d be better than the fella they have in there at the moment.

You’ve never had a wank in your life?

Explains a lot

Oooooofffftttt

poor @Sidney desperate for a bit of attention.

I’m a box office poster here and don’t need attention as I get more than enough of it already

I just thought it was interesting that as you were calling others wankers, that would imply you’ve never had a wank, which I find highly unlikely

Perhaps this could provoke an interesting discussion on the nature of the insults people hurl at each other, if the will is there on the part of posters to engage in good faith in such a discussion

It could be a fascinating blend of lexicography and psychology

It doesn’t imply anything of the sort, the term wanker, as you well know given your English roots, loses all power as an insult if used to denote “someone who wanks”. Properly applied it refers to a useless fuckwit who is excessively annoying. I cannot think of a better example than Irish arseholes / wankers / dickheads who refer to English football teams as “we”. There’s a few of them around here.

Of course it implies it

You’re literally trying to tell us words have no meaning now

I think one of the most pitiful things of all to observe is when people become irrationally angry at other people who call English football teams “we”

Though obviously in Liverpool’s case this doesn’t apply as Liverpool , sorry, we, are Scouse, which is basically Irish

Of course what people who get angry at others calling teams “we” don’t get is that it only encourages them, or sorry, us, to do it more in order to continue to wind the likes of you up

Not sure what your gripe is anyway - you call Galway “we” even though you’ve admitted to not being from Galway

But what I can’t understand is why somebody would get so wound up by the simple act of calling a football team from a neighbouring island “we” in the first place

If that sort of stuff annoys people to such an extent you’d have to think they don’t have much going on upstairs

Seems an extremely trivial thing to get so annoyed about

Pointless anger about trivialities is all the rage now though - society is dumbing down

That’s the way it’s gone I suppose

Anyway, to reiterate my main point, we are Liverpool and we are Champions of Europe

No, it doesn’t imply it, it literally means it, which makes the interpretation “one who wanks” redundant. But I suppose it’s hard for a pedant to appreciate that. I’m not in the slightest angry at Irish fans of English football teams who call said teams “we”, I just think they’re wankers.

I am from Galway, and very proud of it.

Agree about society dumbing down, but as you say that’s the way it has gone, social media has reduced a whole generation (not mine thankfully) to inane soundbites.

As I said earlier, congrats on the win. I have great respect for proper fans, the type who would travel around Europe to end up in a bar, just to be in the same general location as the game. As it happens I’m doing the same presently, tickets for the NBA finals are like gold dust, so I’m wedged into my favorite sports bar in downtown Oakland.

We can do it.

Could sir Alex not do it in Europe or what was the problem here? So many premier league /premiership titles, and winning well at that, seems to me they have been underachieving in Europe. Not to mind todays views on them I’d comfortably say they aren’t in the top five European teams.

Ferguson always prioritized the domestic league. It guaranteed European football so hard to blame him. The quality of European teams was much higher back then and has been in decline for the past five years. This year was absolute cat in terms of quality. The final was like a bad FA cup final.

The Premier league is harder to win and more prestigious than the European cup at this stage.

City seem to be finding it easy to win

Old man Labane … everything was harder back in my day … these kids today etc. etc

Go way you tit. Only for John Terry being an ego maniac Utd would have 1 CL under 23 years of Fergie… He was constantly schooled in Europe.

Man Utd were the best team in Europe for a long time but a mix of arrogance and tactical ineptitude cost them a number of Champions League titles. Among others they lost to the likes of Monaco, Dortmund, Porto who they should have easily beaten. His refusal to change how they played Barce in the second final was incrediblly naive.

Under ferguson man United got to 4 finals. Won 2 and lost 2. All four times they won the league the same year. To the best of my memory arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool twice and spurs have all gotten to champions league finals in the current league format but never won the league the same season. It’s extremely difficult thing to achieve. Ferguson was indeed obsessed with the league but rightly so.

United should have won a lot more Champions Leagues. They were so dominant domestically that minimal exertion was needed to win the Premier League. He was tactically inept in Europe. United won the 99 Champions League despite him, not because of him.
