I was at training for most of that alright. He saved Liverpool’s blushes on multiple occasions though. Even in the away leg he made some fabulous saves. He made the PFA team of the year in a down year for Liverpool.
Anthony scored 4 goals in the league last season. That’s in an era where wingers need to be scoring too. He got a couple in the Europa League against diddy teams but overall he was wake enough. Shrewd association football judges like @neilld also recognise that he’s extremely one footed which is very poor at the highest level.
They’d have been far better off spending less than half that money on Cody Gakpo who was their original target.
Quarter of a billion spent and none of them good enough, of course it’s wasted. At various stages you have proclaimed about 20 of the squad as excellent or significantly improving the team, and yet you also decry the lack of investment. The performances tonight and Monday shows who is spoofing.
A quarter of a billion for that trio. Yikes. Spurs haven’t been too hectic recruitment wise for a while either but in the last 12 months we’ve got Bissouma, Bentancur and Maddison for abkut a third of that, just under 90 million.
That’s a leap. United improved significantly by getting rid of Ronaldo, who lets face it was foisted on ogs by the fans and the board acting like six year old Rees-Moggs, by dropping Maguire, and by getting a tune out of casimero.
Liverpool finished the season with a 12 game unbeaten run once Gakpo settled in. They definitely improved with him as a regular.
Man United were abysmal in the 2021/22 season so it wouldn’t be too hard for them to improve from that. It had far more to do with a Marcus Rashford resurgence than Anthony.
The Dutch experts were all urging Man Utd to sign Gakpo instead last summer.
You could argue that rashford improved most significantly after a happy experience with the inglish national team, and actually flatlined later in the season.
Ten Haag has done the obvious in cutting Ronaldo and dropping Maguire, though despite his very best efforts, he’s not been able to sidle Harry out the door.
Mctominay would be a great buy for Leeds.
Agree re the position of rashford, but wieghirst is a donkey, let’s face it, and if he’s the answer it really is a bad sign. Rashfords best performances were in the periods after he’d been away. Southgate got him pointed right.
