The players had no respect for him. They were splitting their sides laughing at him doing his video analysis. “Here’s Gorgyelenko here now Damien, I’ve studied him, watch how he cuts in from the left every time onto his right peg”. Half of them wouldn’t even take off their headphones when he was talking.

That Israel game where Kerr replaced Robbie Keane with Graham Kavanagh (I think) and lost a 2 or 3 goal lead was the beginning of the end for him.

Ipswich got rid of big Mick because they played awful football. I remember the football being pretty decent under Mick but we’d vastly superior players under him. Would Mick just do the exact same as O’Neill? He might snarl a bit less at O’Donoghue maybe

He brought him on in the first half if memory serves me right after we’d played some brilliant soccerball. He had no reason to go defensive really. It completely changed the game.

Kerr was sacked because we drew or lost a good few games where we went 1,2 or 3 up and then played 11 men behind the ball desperately trying to hang on. It was deeply frustrating at the time as we played some ok football at times.
