Matters Regarding Limerick 🏙️ (Part 2)

If they left them there until the footpath widening was happening I think businesses might be more understanding. A vague promise from the council isn’t worth much.

Costello’s return confirmed?

Bravo

Was going to say, these boys don’t spend

Is it ?

OMG

Would agree with that. They seem to have been trying to remove them without warning and my understanding is the likes of crew are paying a fee for using them. Now it wasn’t mad money but it was a fee on the basis they would be there at the same time. Consultation wouldn’t have gone astray.

If you read between the lines of the council statement, people were complaining because homeless people were drinking on them at night. Not sure getting rid of the parklets will solve that problem

Ah costellos is a different kettle of fish altogether.

Twas lads drinking warm cans of Heineken, not a craft beer to be seen.

Costellos was more metal heads and goths and alternative art college types. No notions at all about the place. An absolute dive. Was a great spot

Nobody could have foreseen a power struggle between the elected Mayor and the lifers.

Were you ever in Limerick City?

Yes. Twice actually but it’s about 40 years ago.

Where in Limerick is Crew? I’ve genuinely never heard of it.

Up to the top of Thomas St, at the T junction with Wickham st. Across from the Funeral home.

The parklet looks like it was thrown together by a couple of council workers who gave up halfway through and went inside for pints of the Bishop’s Ballbag 5.7% ABV

They cost an insane amount of money

Apparently there was a a neighbour complaining also

It’s little businesses like that that make a city someway unique, if they keep making it harder and harder for them to operate all you’ll have left is the multinational chains with deep pockets.

Zambrero, Griolladh opening in the city centre soon, new Pho place looks good, Keanes have made a huge investment, maybe things are looking up a bit :man_shrugging:
