Matters Regarding Limerick 🏙️

A great place for a piss when in town

Most of West Limerick and North Kerry commuters use the N21, it has five times the traffic volume of the N69 coast road. I work in the city with lads who commute from Castleisland, Brosna and Moyvane. Add to that, tourists in the summer using the main route to Kerry, all makes for a very busy road. By some distance the busiest in the county.

New improved roads are the solution, but they must be constructed in tandem. It’s no good doing one in isolation, you’re just going to create more bottle necks. It’s also about safety for motorists, the N21 is dangerously oversubscribed. I live on it, and some evenings I can be three minutes waiting just to cross it.

The bypass of Adare is only getting done on the basis of the connection to Foynes. It’s a clever enough use of EU funding. They were never going to be able to upgrade that entire road and it will have to be done piecemeal.

I appreciate that the link to Foynes is a good use of funds, and will do much for the port and local economy. Nonetheless they are still creating more bottlenecks than they solve.

So what would you do?

  • Do Nothing
  • Fix one bottle neck then the others in time after that

Will pass an hour

The Limerick show would have been a grand day out only for the weather put a literal dampner on proceedings

That’s where we ended up going. It passed a few hours. Brightened up as the day went on.

We were there earlier, was a grand day out until the rain.

Plenty to do for the kids that didn’t cost extra

This is quite a long thread about today’s meeting between the mayor & the council but I enjoyed reading through it.

It has been, is, and will always be ‘King John’s Castle’. That historian Sharon Slater is trying to push for this woke name and she can politely fuck off.

Incorrect. It was historically known as Limerick castle until recently… No such thing as king John’s castle.

Esteemed historian Liam Irwin imparted that knowledge onto me frequently.
