Have heard those stories alright. TOo much at minor fucked young beano up. He took the leg break against Tyrone very badly too after having come back from two bad ankle breaks also.
Meehan was brilliant last year and has started in the same vein this time around. He probably shouldnât have been playing football at all in 07 but there you go. Heâs as sound a skin as youâll ever meet, chilled out as fuck. To see Sean Armsrong finally start playing to the potential he showed alongside MM in minor bodes very well for Galway and Meehan(in fairness to Armstrong heâs been bolloxed with injuries since) and with one P Joyce pulling the strings their attack is a joy to behold. Standing ovations every game so far this year in Pearse. One other factor in Meehan appearing to only come good now is Liam Sammon. Peter Ford had no concept of attacking football at all and this inhibited Galways best cards while he was in charge. Sammon is total opposite and has bought the âjoye de vivreâ back into Galways game. Still wouldnât say heâs the best in the country as Meehan needs to produce at the very top level for a number of years a la Gooch and Cavanagh but on current form and with Sammonâs coaching this might very soon be the case.
