Mickee321's Sunday drives thread

I was in Dungarvan at the weekend and made my way home yesterday through the Nire Valley, turning right in Ballymacarbery and making my way towards Clonmel. Lovely drive and a smashing view over Clonmel when you reach the top of the pass.

Had a grand owl :owl: spin today. Drove to Tramore and then took the Copper Coast drive all the way to Dungarvan. East-West is the best way to see that scenery. Beautiful. Got a parking spot in Dungarvan and parked up. Got a scampi and chips from ā€¦ And Chips, my first time there. Had heard a lot about it. Justified the hype, it was off the chain. 10/10. Ate the chips in the car looking over the harbour.
Came back the main road.

The best chips Iā€™ve had Iā€™d say. And the scampi was top notch too.

A 10/10 from fagan - wow. It is unreal though

Is that Gold Coast hotel still on the go?

I think itā€™s housing migrants these days.

The hotel at Clonea Strand is still housing migrants, the one at Ballinacourty pier has been renovated and is an aparthotel now. Just reopened this July

Some spot. Savage beach. Thereā€™s a triathlon goes from there each year. Itā€™s weird seeing the place shut off from the public all milling around. It would be a perfect spot for a few bulmers pint bottles on a sunny day.

Drove the Causeway Coast Route into Portrush today. North Antrim coast and the Glens has long been a bucket list item for me. Today I ticked it off. Little did I know when I planned the trip that it would be 17 degrees here in the middle of winter. Beautiful day for a spin and I could see Scotland. Did the heart good to pass through the hurling heartlands here. Youd wonder would Antrim be better off bringing league games to Cushendall rather than the dump that is Corrigan Park.
Stopped in Carnlough (home of legendary Liverpool and Celtic Manager Brendan Rodgers) for a coffee and a scone. There was a tricolor flying over the harbor at Carnlough. That was a nice counterpoint to the massive crown ( I mean massive, a replica of the British crown ) on the roundabout into Larne.
Not much happening in Portrush but there is a huge mural of Shane Lowry winning The Open. That must grig Rory.

Itā€™s as good a drive as there is on the island and is impeccably signposted.

Tomorrow I do the Rope Bridge, Bushmills Distillery and the Giants Causeway. Friday I do Derry/Londonderry.

You have a great time of it mate. Good luck to you.

I worked myself to the bone for a lifetime pal. I donā€™t begrudge it to myself.

Iā€™m heading up to Portrush to the Golf next year.

Weā€™re going camping but a part of me wishes we stayed in Cushendall or somewhere.

Cushendall is beautiful but a long spin into Portrush. As an aside Iā€™ve never seen anything like the amount of caravan parks up here.

Portrush is where the poor Catholics stay, Portstewart is where the rich Prods holiday. The dark hedges is worth a visit too

Anybody else read that and finish it with

Wouldnā€™t it be great if it was like this all the time.
