I would take the exact opposite view that you possess
And right there is the difference between you & @Boxtyeater . @Boxtyeater knows what he’s talking about.

I know Tyrone football inside out. I know we will have a fantastic year laden with silverware and Gormy will be an integral part of it.

Gormley wouldn’t get onto the Leitrim team as a defender at the moment and that’s a statement for you to smoke.
It’s a young mans game and Gormley’s past it. Different if he were a cunning fox lurking around in the full-forward line. The reversed adage of the “fox in the hen-house” is applicable. The fucking chickens would ate Gormley.

Next…

I have plenty of time for Tyrone and i got great enjoyment out of their wins over Kerry. They have never been the same though since we finished off the great 2003 to 2008 Tyrone team in the 2009 all ireland semi final.Im not sure about the all ireland but i think their a good bet to win ulster.

Tougher side of the draw really. Will have to get over Down and Monaghan to meet the winners of Cavan/Armagh before an Ulster final. Donegal have the handy end of the stick.

The only team that could cause us any bother there is Monaghan.

The sweetest of victories today at Newbridge.

Peter Harte is an absolute liability at centre back and it was no surprise we only really came into the game when he was black carded. Gormley has to be given that role when he returns. Harte is a good player but he should be in the half forward line or playing at wing back.

Sean Cavanagh was started at wing forward and could not get into the game from there. Grugan also struggled badly in midfield and was taken off at half time. I think Cavanagh should only be conisderer at either midfield or full forward. Colm Cavanagh was excellent in midfield and has now established himself as one of the top midfielders in the country.

The full back line got an awful roasting in the first 15-20 minutes but got a grip on things after that and did well. The half back line was really bad today. Harte as I mentioned earlier was the main culprit, he just leaves so much space open when he plays there and we love very vulnerable to teams running through our centre. Our whole half back line were subbed although Ciaran McGinley was decent. Mattie Donnelly was brought back from centre forward to the the half forward line first and then the half back line and had a great impact there. The Kildare no. 12 looks a terrific player and gave his succession of markers a torrid time.

Emmet McKenna scored 1-2 and looked threatening but needs to win more ball in the middle of the field and offer more in a defensive aspect but an encouraging performance nonetheless. Ronan O’Neill was immense while McCurry and McAliskey were well shackled.

O’Neill and Donnelly were outstanding - hard to know where we should operate Donnelly as we need a physical presence in the full forward line but also need a ball winner in the half forward line.

Based on current form so far I think we should be looking at something like this for our championship opener.

Morgan

McCrory Clarke Tierney

McGinley Gormley McNabb

Cavanagh Cavanagh

Donnelly Harte McKenna

Ronan O’Neill

McCurry Coney

A fucking beautiful win, well done mate

Kildare

Tyrone (NFL v Kerry) - Niall Morgan; PJ Quinn, Conor Clarke, Barry Tierney; Danny McBride, Peter Harte, Ronan McNabb; Colm Cavanagh, Sean Cavanagh; Emmett McKenna, Ronan O’Neill, Shay McGuigan; Darren McCurry, Mattie Donnelly, Patrick McNeice.

Subs: Michael O’Neill, Dermot Carlin, Kyle Coney, Mark Donnelly, Kevin Gallagher, Conan Grugan, Peter Hughes, Plunkett Kane, Conor McAliskey, Tiernan McCann, Aidan McCrory.

Another experimental team for the trip to Kerry. Hopefully McBride’s inclusion in the half back line means he will be playing at centre half back where he has played most of his football this as Peter Harte is a liability there. Also good to see PJ Quinn get a chance at corner back.

The half forward line would again be a bit of a worry, all nice footballers but you’d have question marks on their ability to scrap and pick up some of the loose ball in the middle of the pitch. I wouldn’t have minded seeing Mark Donnelly coming in and maybe giving Grugan a run in the half forward line.

McNeice would be a player who you’d imagine would need a big performance in order to keep himself in the reckoning after the league campaign.

Still no sign of Gormley, the McMahons and Penrose. O’Neill is out of action until the summer after an operation on his achilles while Aidan Cassidy has been dropped from the panel.

McBride playing at full back and Clarke at wing back.

Morgan has already had to make two good stops.

2 world class saves.

Distribution into the forwards has been poor so far though.

Can’t understand why Mickey Harte persists with his nephew at centre back as he is just too soft defensively for that position.

Great score from Morgan.

2 points to 1 in Kerry’s favour.

Peter Harte, what a score.

Quinn has been switched onto Keane who was giving Tierney problems.

Tierney getting roasted today. Worryingly Tyrone are being cleaned out if it in the middle of the pitch again.
