Mickey Harte's Red Hand Army - 2015 Season

As in future prospects? I donā€™t think so, itā€™s a young team - weā€™re going to be around for the years to come.

This is not the end, itā€™s only just the beginning. Take out Cavanagh today and look at the age profile of our forwards.

Meyler 21
Bradley 21
Harte 25
McCurry 22
McAliskey 24

With the likes of Brennan (19) and Oā€™Neill (23) primed for action off the bench and if Conor McKenna ever returns to a Tyrone shirtā€¦

We???

Yesā€¦

Who is with me?

Get your wagons and circle them.

Watched the game back there, awesome performance.

Morgan 8 - Had a wee iffy one with the ball he punched in the first half but he had the numbers there to thwart Hughes, bar that blip he was superb, very assertive and takes command of the game of balls in the square. Kick outs were superb all day long.

McCrory 7 - Very solid game, great energy to get up and down the pitch. Miscued a simple ball to put McCurry in on goal near the end that would have finished the game.

McNamee 9 - Outstanding performance on the best forward in the game, always tight and in close attention to him. He has really developed into one of the best man markers in the game and his score near the end was inspirational.

McCarron 8 - Kept Kieran Hughes very much under wraps and defended the high ball in very well.

McNabb 10 - This fella has got it all. He reads the game superbly, his pace and drive out of defence is the heartbeat of this team. Heā€™s been blighted by injuries for the past three or four years but heā€™s really arrived on the national scene today. Savage score in the second half when we were turning the screw.

Joe 7 - Started off very well and scored a cracking point, hope the injury isnā€™t too serious and heā€™ll be available for Kerry.

McCann 8 - His driving runs from deep were a constant thorn for Monaghan, heā€™s a brilliant athlete and has great pace, his actions in the game may have tarnished in some way but it was superb peformance.

Colm Cavanagh 10 - Outstanding, the amount of dangerous high balls in the area he plucked out of the sky and interceptions he made canā€™t be understated. He is a real unsung hero, an absolute work horse and one of the real leaders in this side. Really stepped out of his brotherā€™s shadow in the past few years.

Mattie Donnelly 10 - His best performance in a Tyrone shirt, Iā€™ve been critical of him for his trend of flitting in and out of games but that was as dominant a 70 minutes display as you will see from a player this summer. Great points near the end.

Meyler 6 - Very unfortunate to get an early black card but he had started the game really well up until that point.

Bradley 7 - He was quiet enough yesterday but did the simple things and he has great composure and decision making - he should get much more space the next day and Iā€™d expect him to have a bigger say this time round.

Harte 9 - Just a joy to watch, a thoroughbred footballer, outstanding tackler, a left foot like a wand and can slalom through defences at his will. Heā€™s our main link man and he rarely seems to make a wrong decision. He has to be a good shout for POTY so far.

McCurry 9 - The first score he got today was magic, an acute angle off his weaker foot. He gave Ryan Wylie a torrid time, he also got the better of him in the corresponding figure last year.

Cavanagh 9 - The best footballer over the past decade, bar nobody. How many times has he kept coming up with the goods for Tyrone in big games, in close games and when the pressure is really, he was targeted by Monaghan today and shipped a lot of abuse but he is unflappable. He brutalised Drew Wylie in the second half.

McAliskey 9 - Brilliant as well, really took Walshe to the cleaners today, made every ball into him stick and was very unlucky to see an effort come off the bar in the second half which would have been the score of the day.

Justy 9 - Awesome, another real leader in this team, picked up so many dangerous breaks in the defence and swept up extremely well at the back.

Conall McCann 4 - had a nightmare when introduced, ball handling was very poor and he made a number of silly and lazy tackles.

Felt Malachy Oā€™Rourke made a few bad calls - he started with both Gollogly and McAnepsie but they just had no impact against Tyroneā€™s defence, Owen Duffy really should have started after his great display in the final and he has the ability to kick points from range and break a tackle - similar with Finlay. I can only assume Corey picked up an injury during the first half, he was badly missed at half time.

would McCarron and Mickey Harte go for pints after the game i wonder?

Seeing the delight and joy on Mickey Harteā€™s face at the end of the game was the best moment of yesterday, what a man!

I havenā€™t seen a Tyrone player go down like that since Paul McGirr.

Typically classless stuff from the free stater brigade. Got any jokes about Cormac while youā€™re at it.

I havenā€™t seen a Tyrone representative go down like that since Jim Lynagh.

What nonsense. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

He should refer more to the domestic English media and less on the foreign media in Ireland?

What is also interesting is he considers a county with 2 football all Irelands as defining ā€˜Successā€™ :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Didnā€™t mess wiitg player

I would expect Justy in for Joe and the rest of the team to remain unchanged.

  1. Morgan
  2. McCrory
  3. McNamee
  4. McCarron
  5. McNabb
  6. Justy
  7. Harte
  8. Colm Cavanagh
  9. Mattie Donnelly
  10. Tiernan McCann
  11. Bradley
  12. Meyler
  13. McCurry
  14. Sean Cavanagh
  15. McAliskey

The big question is whether Joe will be fit to take a place on the bench, highly doubtful I would suspect. I think Paudie McNulty is going to be key for us, I suspect he will come in in the last 20-25 minutes of the game and he is really able to make penetrating runs through the middle and is a big physical presence. Conall McCann may struggle for a spot on the bench after his horror show last time round, McShane was togged and all against Monaghan so didnā€™t seem to be carrying an injury, Iā€™d expect him back on the bench and he could be a very good option for us.

Listened to the Off The Ball piece with McGuigan, Gormley and Davy Harte. Very enjoyable, Conor Gormley is a gentleman.

Didnā€™t sleep much last night as the excitement and nerves were too much. The two key factors for the game from a Tyrone perspective is how well we can compete at midfield, particularly when it comes to kickouts and how well we can curtail the influence of Donaghy. If Tyrone can handle the threat of Donaghy then I think weā€™re half way there.

The weather forecast is very much to Kerryā€™s advantage, the wet and soft conditions suit the bigger and more physical teams whereas the dry and firmed up conditions will advantage the smaller and pacier teams but weā€™ve had a nice few breaks go our way with the qualifiers draw so far so this is one obstacle we must overcome.

What gives me confidence is that this will be a game played on Tyroneā€™s terms, weā€™ll go out there playing the same type of football we have been very impressive with over the past 3 or 4 games, thereā€™s a confidence there now and a fearlessness which is where a lot of teams collapse when coming up against.

Just on the buildup to the match, I feel a lot of the media have been dismissive and disrespectful to Tyrone, thatā€™s probably good for the players. Little has been made about the attacking threat we pose to Kerry and itā€™s all about what we need to do to beat Kerry, as far as Iā€™m concerned, we just need to play our natural game. There are serious deficiencies in that Kerry defence, Enright is currently the soup of the day with GAA commentators but he must have came an awful long way from last year to be that man.

He was hooked early on against Mayo in the AI semi-final because he was getting destroyed. I recall him being hooked in the opening 20 minutes in the league game against Kerry last year (where Oā€™Donoghue ran riot in the second half) because McCurry was giving him the run around and winning every ball out in front. In the league game this year, we bombarded high ball in on Sean Cavanagh in the full forward line to great effect. There will be a big confidence there that we can really get at Kerryā€™s defence, Iā€™m expecting Tyrone goals today and I think Kerry will be picking up their fair share of black cards, for all the talk about their great bench - how many good defensive reinforcements have they got?
