@Atticus_Finch was a fierce Limerick Gael.He was a Granagh man.Myself and himself and a lad from Tuam used to meet up every Monday evening for pints after work to dissect every match played over the weekend hurling and football. He had some memory,he used to constantly take easy money off lads with his gaa knowledge before lads could Google shit on the phone. He passed away in his apartment in Queens one Friday night,I remember a friend of ours called me on the Saturday morning to tell me,I couldn’t believe what I was hearing.I was out in JFK waiting to collect my sister in law.I had just hung up when she appeared in front of me.I drove back to Sunnyside in a daze. When I got to the apartment I was as white as a ghost,my wife knew him almost as well as I did,he had a fierce soft spot for her as her uncle played for Limerick in the 80s.I told her he was dead and burst into tears almost like a child,I balled my eyes out on her shoulder.I wish he could have been around to see the Limerick team winning all around them now. When I see them lifting any cup he’s the first thing I think about and how proud he would be.He told me a great story one time about how his uncle who used to take him to the Munster final every year since he was about 8, anyways there were in Semple or somewhere and they were walking with the crowd home when some auld lad in a Mk 2 escort ploughed into him and a few other people.Atticus complained to the uncle that his leg was sore but the uncle was having none of it but Atticus could hardly walk so a woman in one of the houses gave him diluted orange and a few biscuits to ease the pain.Turns out his leg was broken and he spent the next week in hospital.Anyways that was only one story about Atticus,I’d be here all week if I wanted.

@Atticus_Finch was before my time on TFK. Sounded like a right character.

Did he post under the same name on AFR?

He definitely posted on AFR,not sure if he used the same name though.

Lovely tribute.

Granagh, at the foot of majestic Knockfierna. Same parish as @dodgy_keeper

A pity he didn’t live to see his clubmate Donal O’Grady lift the Munster Cup in '13

That runt fella knew fuck all

He gave @Mac an awful clamping one time regarding US immigration rules iirc.

This football team need to make the breakthrough in the next one or two years, where as hurling in the county requires open heart surgery from the U/10 to Senior, an operation that has only begun in the past two years and will take another 5 or 6 before we start to see any real fruit
