Missing People In Ireland

Doubt it.

Looking at leeroy Blevins take on it on YT, it does appear trevor was being watched by 2 guys in the cctv , the first one waiting there over 30 mins in the rain and then going down to have a chat with him a the gates, trevor was probably locked in buck whaleys and mentioned that he worked in BOI and then this may have lead to a plan to rob him or the bank, then later on when trevor left BOI and the second man following trevor caught up with him and then things went south, where they rowed and eventually trevor was killed etc.

Just come clean ffs

Would the Trevor Deeley campaign have a lot of money to keep it in the news every year compared to other high profile cases? We often only hear about missing women’s cases when there is a new lead or an appeal every few years, not every year.

There’s a reward for it alright from some private person but I think it’s just part of the circumstances of it and that the parents really pushed it at the time with the CCTV and stuff. It would probably have been forgotten about otherwise as a standard missing persons case. People weren’t used to seeing pictures of someone before they went missing.

I wouldn’t say it’s anymore high profile than Jo Jo Dullard or Philip Cairns though…

What do you reckon happened Tim,?

I imagine it’s what the witness who came forward a couple of years ago said on the criminal gang and knocked off. Seems as though there is another now as well confirming it.

Not sure I buy the wrong place, wrong time thing that the witness said though considering it’s likely the guy in black outside BOI was the same fella who followed him.

I wondered if he’d jumped into the river, and always hoped not. I hope he’s found.

Trevor Deeley’s sister was just on the Pat Kenny show on newstalk there. She was saying that there’s all kinds of rumours out there on message boards and social media and a lot of it is unhelpful.

For example the stuff about him possibly running off to Alaska. She said it’s untrue that he’d returned to Ireland and went missing just two days after he’d got back from the Alaska trip, but rather it had been weeks and weeks before. She said Trevor was a simple man and his photos from Alaska were all of glaciers and mountains, he was an entry level computer person in his job, she more or less said it was impossible he’d have the wits to concoct something as elaborate as disappearing himself on purpose and making his way undetected back to Alaska.

She totally rubbished the stuff that came out about a possible criminal element to the disappearance, saying there wasn’t a shred of evidence to support that. I found that surprising given she then went on to say the most significant part of his disappearance and the footage they have is of the man in black clothes who followed him home and hung around for 30mins at the gate of BOI while Trevor went inside. These two points kind of conflicted with each other I feel, but I suppose what she was trying to say was it was rubbish that Trevor had any involvement with criminals or criminal activity but was instead picked on randomly which makes more sense. She is hoping for someone to come forward who might recognize the chap in question from the video.

Saw the Deidre Jacob documentary last night and it was harrowing to say the least. Her mother wore 20 years of pain and desperation on her face. Losing a loved one to death is an unconscionable thought and you never get over it but a healing process can take place, but for someone to disappear without trace is another matter entirely and is an open wound. From following the CCTV footage you could eerily follow what she was doing that particular day in Newbridge from getting bank draft in AIB for her student accommodation, to going to post office to send it by post and then casually walking down the street of Newbridge past Permanent TSB and out the road back home. Numerous sightings of her walking the 25 minute walk back home and witnesses seeing her at the gate of her homeplace. Then nothing past 3.05 on the 28th July 1998. Vanished without trace. It seems like the investigation had a breakthrough last year but nothing really since. They explicitly stated Larry Murphy may have been in Newbridge that day and this seemingly was the direction the programme wanted to point the viewer in. They also mentioned that he was drunk one night in prison and told a cellmate that he was behind her abduction. Given Murphy’s modus operandi with the abduction of the Carlow woman who escaped and his actions afterwards it would be fair to assume it wasn’t his first time and wouldn’t have been his last had he not being apprehended.

Tis a pity someone didn’t gut that animal when he was inside

whilst i agree with that sentiment, there’s a laziness to ascribing all these missing women to larry murphy. the cops have an abysmal record when it comes to missing people and are more than happy for people to believe that its the bogeyman rather than have a large light shone on their own failures

There seems to be a similarity in a lot of the disappeared. If a potential had a type it wouldn’t be hard to find a common denominator. A lot of them happened around a small catchment area where a trades man, builder, sales rep etc could be operating. While it is unrealistic to think that one person was responsible for all the disappearances it is quite conceivable that 1 person could be responsible for 2 or 3. Also these sociopaths have a high propensity to re-offend and generally dont stop until they are caught (from my knowledge gleaned from true crime documentaries on netflix). So what happened then. Why did they stop? Did they become old and infirm. Were they apprehended for some other crime, Were people becoming aware or dubious of them.

A laziness? How do you mean. Him admitting to it drunk then denying it means it’s reasonable enough to consider it. What fuck ups did the cops do in these cases?

an unverified source saying that he said it while drunk??? are you nuts?

the cops have a shite history when it comes to missing poeple, do you deny that? they dont normally get off their holes until theyve no choice in the matter as in the graham dwyer murder trial, and as in this case.

in the trevor deely case they never looked for the CCTV, it was the family who did it and they also fucked up in relation to his phone.

in most of the cases involving the missing women their friends in the media have allowed them to propogate insinuations about that the gardai know who it is but havent been able to arrest them which is a crock. the cops havent gotten a clue as evidenced by the sheer number of poeple who have managed to go missing without a trace and because the cops havent lifted a finger in the vital first 48 hours

Well the effort of one good cop working off very little evidence convinced the killer of Elaine O’Hara. The rest of the PC Plods would not have bothered ringing Dunnes with just a key fob of evidence to identify a decomposed body.

Murphy needs to have an ‘accident’.

What that bastard did to the poor lady in Carlow - he doesn’t deserve to live and the world would be much safer and better off without him.

the effort of one good cop who wasnt investigating the disappearance of elaine ohara, they just assumed that she’d topped herself without even the veneer of an investigation

Not quite true. There was an admission about a girl in Kildare or Newbridge but not Jacob herself.
