More shame for the travelling community

I think you’re on the right track there, pal.

Reading in the paper today about the court appearances of the seven in the Killenaule case - when one of them was charged he responded “I wasn’t in that fucking house!” The picture with the same piece in the Examiner showed your man roaring as he was being led into the courthouse too.

Padraic Nally won alright sort of the year on TFK back in the day, I assume?

All that’s missing now is for a certain Mr Collins to appear on Vincent Browne claiming discrimination against members of the community he represents. Considering the fleecing of old age pensioners out of thousands of euro for decimating their driveways, the bouts of bare knuckle boxing they readily engage in before posting the video on youtube preceded by indecipherable verbal threats against their inevitably inferior first cousin and the feuding where an assortment of weapons ranging from a potato peeler to a slash hook can be wielded at the drop of a hat it’s unbelievable they can be running scared of a little bit of good old discrimination. All I’ll say is it’s amazing what offends some people.

Irish Olympic silver medallist John Joe Nevin has suffered a setback to his professional career after he was assaulted at the weekend. Nevin (24), who won an Olympic boxing medal in 2012, had his leg broken in two places during an altercation in his hometown of Mullingar, Co Westmeath.

He has been receiving messages of support via Twitter from fans and leading Irish sporting figures such as boxers Katie Taylor, Paddy Barnes, Wayne McCullough, Barry McGuigan and Sonia O’Sullivan.

The assault comes less than a month after Nevin’s first professional bout, when he beat Puerto Rican Alberto Candelaria on St Patrick’s Day in Boston.

It is understood Nevin was attacked with a golf club and stick at a house in Mullingar on Saturday morning. Gardaí were called to the scene of a disturbance outside a house at Ardleigh Crescent at 11.30am. Nevin was taken to hospital in Mullingar along with another man and a woman, both in their 20s. Nevin, who signed with GreenBlood Boxing last year, was later transferred to the Midland Regional Hospital in Tullamore, where it is understood he underwent surgery.

A statement posted on GreenBlood Boxing’s Facebook page said: “John Joe Nevin will be out of action for several months after being attacked in a Saturday morning incident in which he broke his leg in two places.”

According to the statement, the boxer is “gutted” that his professional career “has been slowed” but he has vowed to come back stronger. It claimed the boxer had been acting as a “peacemaker” between a number of individuals when he sustained the injury. “Doctors told Nevin he would be out for two or three months before he could start rehabilitation on the leg,” the statement added.

GreenBlood Boxing’s Tom Moran said: “Our schedule has been thrown off by a few months but hopefully we’ll have John Joe back working hard by mid-summer and have him fighting again stateside in September.

“We were hoping to get John Joe headlining a card in Ireland in the fall,” he added, “but we may have to push that back some now because the big push is making him a major attraction in the Irish-American audience. We have talks about New York, Boston and Philadelphia fights.”

A 21-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident on Saturday afternoon. He was released without charge late on Saturday night and a file will be prepared for the DPP, gardaí confirmed.

I believe it was a family row involving his uncle and his two sons and Nevin got injured when he got up in their faces. The bone was protruding out through his skin for a finish, allegedly.

I know they’re a bunch of inbred scumbags but was this a rival “family” did this? And do they have a few boxers? And are we likely to see a Youtube video to set up a fight and provide us landed people with a few minutes of mirth anytime soon?

Nevin had been trying to stop a fight between his uncle and his uncle’s two sons when he was attacked, his promoters said last night.

FFS. I’d say whichever it was that did him isn’t feeling too pleasant this morning.

You presume too much, these cunts have no morals.

A friend of the forum has just sent a tremendous tweet to the ‘champ’ as he calls him

Not at all, pal. It’s an ancient traveler tradition-it’s in his blood to attack a family member with a golf club.

Has that lad from Pavee Point been wheeled out yet to defend this?

His promoters are hardly going to be an independent source of information

I meant that he probably got his kicked in.

Bunch of fucking knackers. I’d euthanise the lot of them. A couple of silver medals is fucking no payback for the shite these thieving violent cunts get up to.

And I’m a fucking liberal, left-wing softie.

What?

So Irish travellers are a race now, interesting.

You could set up an interview panel and discern which of these lads and lasses are decent and know for sure 99.9% of the rest are pure scum and send them off to Mosney or, worse, a gulag, or best case scenario, execute the fuckers. I’d shed no tear. They’re a fucking plague.

You again
