Skinny pants.
Irelandâs economic problems stem squarely from the policies of the parties whose economic policies you espouse. Fine Gael and Fianna Fail.
They didnât come from left-wing economic policy.
Itâs so hilarious to see people like yourself falling over themselves with your cherry picking and historical ignorance.
Both Fine Gael and Fianna Fail were beholden to the interests of the banks and property vested interests. Both believed in the cult of deregulation, privatisation and lower taxes on the rich. Fine Gael arguably tried to outdo even Fianna Fail at the 2002 and 2007 general elections in terms of pandering to financial and property vested interests. Both were in full support of joining the Euro.
Own the bust the policies of the parties you supported created.
i) My satire is hilarious. Thereâs no point being modest about it.
ii) What makes it even more hilarious is that you hate it.
I thankfully missed the prequel to all this nonsense. What thread should I ensure I avoid so I donât see how all this started
Huh? You havenât refuted one point, you have merely gone on making stuff up about who I would have supported back then.
Of course the situation was cosy. The banks loved the Government juicing up the property market. The Government loved the property market being juiced up as stamp duty and VAT receipts allowed them to pay for goodies for their clients.
And when those receipts fell through the floor, the deficit exploded. During austerity, the âhard choicesâ were largely confined to cutting CapEx, as it reduced their clientâs exposure.
You didnât make one point.
I see youâre agreeing with me now that the cosiness between the Government and the banks was the cause of the crash.
Sorry, maybe you would have supported the PDs. I forgot they existed when I was writing that last post.
So easy to forget and yet so hard to forget in other ways.
Thankfully their memory lives on through Tom Parlonâs leadership of the Construction Industry Federation.
Whatever, more incoherent babble. Thread fucked already, and all because you had to bring in some bollix about left wing and right wing with actors. The thread shouldnât rot anymore. Link elsewhere if you want to actually address things.
You brought it in.
Post 4063.
As you well know, I did not
As youâll well know if you flicked back to post #4063, you did.
Times a thousand, jinx, no comebacks.
Sidney, buddy. Walk away from this one.
Youâre nice guy. Same as ever, youâre not beaten. Itâs just the wrong thread.
Can it not be taken to the politics thread?
Yeah I agree.
My father advised me years ago to never engage in an argument with a gobshite. Theyâll inevitably drag you down to their level and beat you with experienceâŚ
Just pointing this out for the benefit of all non interested parties.
