More Things That Are Wrong, just plain wrong

There will be an investigation anyway. And you can be sure every part of that couples lives will be taken apart and put back together.

They probably will take a case, but I doubt any punishment or ā€œjusticeā€ issued will ever be worse than knowing you are the reason your child died. Iā€™m not sure any sentencing or such would be beneficial in the case, it was a horrible lapse in concentration that had massively significant repercussions.

That bastion of parenting, the McCannā€™s, were only gone for 2 hours.

100% agree.

Gross negligence manslaughter.

+1 its fucking horrendous leaving the child for that long

Not being judgmental here, but I am wondering would everyone be so understanding if it was an itinerant in this position

I dont know anything about the man or his upbringing, education or relationship with his own cousins. Iā€™m choosing not to read or listen to anything about it only whats been mentioned here, and even thats more than I need to know. The whole thing is too horrifying to consider.

You would have most of the board calling for him to be hanged.

I expect he will be tried and convicted of manslaughter and given a suspended sentence.

If anything it will be involuntary manslaughter and I donā€™t think you can accuse most of the board of wanting him hanged.

I know absolutely nothing of the man or the family. All I have heard is that a 7 month old girl died after being left in the car for over 5 hours. I still havent seen much more on it than that, so they could be an itinerant, foreigner, Irish or whatever. And they are from Tipperary. Thats about all I know. So Iā€™d have the same thoughts regardless of the man or familyā€™s background.

What is the point of that? Is it just to make the guilt and anguish official?

I will be amazed if the lad sees out the year. I know if it was me I wouldnā€™t be able to go on. Awful as it sounds but that is the truth. To me there is no comeback from something as devastatingly tragic as this.

I agree with the second part Taz.

As to the first, in my view, his negligence killed a person and that is manslaughter. The law is not supposed to decide when it applies and when not. I expect the judge would not send him to jail.

Itā€™s tragic. The man will never be ok again.

His close friends and family will be important in the days and weeks ahead. I donā€™t know the man either but youā€™ve got to think he will be going through a range of emotions/thoughts.

A couple of times recently Iā€™ve had the young fella in the back seat, Iā€™ve arrived home and forgot to take him out. These would be non routine trips. But heā€™s five so heā€™d probably let himself out anyway.

Another thing is having the baby chair in the back seat rather than the front seat. Less chance of forgetting the kid if they are next to you. Safety wise would prefer to have the kid in the back seat.

Surely youā€™re not allowed have the babyseat in the front? That was my understanding.

The missus went half way to work one day with the firstborn in the car with her. She was only back in work a few weeks. Exhaustion will do fucked up things to you, thereā€™s a reason its a favoured form of torture.

Wasnā€™t there something about not having the baby seat in the front due to possible damage by an air bag?

Iā€™ve seen people put the seats in the front but Iā€™d never do it my self.

probably

Perfectly legal to have car seat in front. Illegal however to have it rear facing in front seat if there is an airbag protecting passenger seat. Would often see lads with ā€˜work vansā€™ i.e. no back seats having child seats up front
