“Undertaking is illegal, is dangerous and should not be done”

That’s a blog

I’m assuming this is really intended for slow-moving traffic or an urban three lane motorway, not so much for lads pelting it across Offaly. The wording is left vague enough though.

I’ve undertook a few times myself as a last resort although you’d be wary enough doing it as you have to assume the dozy cunt ahead of you is oblivious to proceedings and could pull across you at any time. I’d pay no heed to said dozy cunt waving fists or flashing at you afterwards either.

and youre relying on random lads on an internet DB. can you prove its not illegal?

You may overtake on the left when
You want to go straight ahead when the driver in front of you has moved
out and signalled that they intend to turn right.
You have signalled that you intend to turn left.
Traffic in both lanes is moving slowly but traffic in the left-hand lane is
moving more quickly than the right-hand lane – for example, in slowmoving stop-start traffic.
You must not overtake when
You are at or near a pelican crossing, zebra crossing or at pedestrian
signals.
A traffic sign or road marking prohibits it.
You are approaching a junction.
You are on the approach to a corner, bend, dip in the road, hump-back
bridge, brow of a hill or on a narrow road.
You are in the left-hand lane of a dual carriageway or motorway when
traffic is moving at normal speed.
It would cause danger or inconvenience to another road user.

Surely the law should state it’s illegal. Not a blog from an insurance company.

see above from the rules of the road

I don’t like to see it to be honest, was he going very slow?
I think flashing the lights while cuntish in it’s own way is more appropriate than passing on the left, it’s very dangerous.

Did they do an hourly rate?

I’d say he was doing 90kph or so. Road was empty.

You’ll have to ring them up and enquire mate

The problem is if you flash you can’t whip inside after because the numpty might whip in front of you.

@artfoley you look to have won this battle. I withdraw my earlier abuse

Ah yeah. I’m not giving it the self-righteous tone here, I was genuinely not sure of the rule. But I’m not sure what else I can do stuck behind a lad doing 90kph for well over a minute on an empty road with a perfectly good lane to the left.

A little beep of the horn, a quick flash of the headlights, or failing that a gentle nudge into the central divider.
