Motorways driving

Grim as fuck. I dunno if it’s non-locals or just a lapse in concentration from elderly drivers but I’ve never heard as many reports as I have in the last month.

Has to be systems now put in place to warn motorists of cars joining motorways on wrong lanes.

Invariably, if someone goes onto wrong road they are always up in in the fast lane unawares until catastrophe happens

From my recollection it’s the roundabout entries that I believe were tied into both fatal crashes.

They need to instal those barriers they have in rental car places - if you drive over it wrong direction it punctures tyres.

Something….

This sounds like a horrendous case.

Car going down the wrong way. Possibly on a suicide mission. Crashed into car carrying a young family - mum, dad and infant.

Four dead.

That’s as bad as it gets. Horrific.

Just passed there now. Road is still closed.

I’m not right after reading it. Just horrific.

Christ. God rest them.

Spotted going the wrong way onto the Motorway after 7.30 pm and crash almost 2k later. If anyone made a genuine mistake going on to the motorway then surely their first instinct would be to pull over onto the hard shoulder.

It’s pretty hard to believe that this was an accident.

Suicide mission that killed 3 others including a baby. That’s premeditated murder.

Happened to an Irish family in Britain on their holidays a few years ago. A Polish fellow who wanted to end it all was steaming up and down roads the wrong way looking for a car to crash into and the Irish family were the unlucky ones he hit.

A word of caution on this. Some of these cases have involved drivers who had diabetic episodes and had no idea what they were doing.

Fair point and all I’m doing is speculating based upon limited information. A tragic case no matter what.

Time to call a halt to all this mental health pandering excuse making bullshit

Any prick that drives beyond the down ramp of a motorway in the wrong direction deserves no burial no pity. Soft fucking society that hasn’t called this bullshit out to date.

Or in the case of ex TDs, pissed out of their tree.

We really need to rethink our car culture

From the Irish Times

Gardai believe that driver accidentally drove onto the motorway in the wrong direction and collided head-on with the vehicle carrying the couple and their child.

Accidentally for 2km ??? They must have a friend in the Irish Times
