There’s a reason for that. He gets his own treatment but on top of being a HOTY, if you’re pulling a few filthy strokes now and again it’s going to be blown massively. No one cares if a nobody is doing it. His physicality is a big part of his skillset and as limerick people we wouldn’t change that for the world as he’s just unbelievable, but we can’t just expect him to be reffed nicely. He has history. If you’re a ref and he’s involved in any altercation, he’s going to be punished. Just the way it is and it will always be that way

We have the same with Austin. The player learns or doesn’t learn. That’s the way it is. It was the same for Mullane as well and I’m sure there have been others. Austin has learned yet. Mullane got the message.

There’s a fair chance a team from Munster will qualify with one win, then beat some Joe McDonagh team and be in an AI Quarter Final.

The format allows itself open to all kinds of silly permutations.

Give me Galway v Waterford in a Knockout Qualifier in Thurles on a July Saturday any day over this nonsense.
