The whole rubby thing is obviously a sham, but Leinster resting the likes of Sexton in their league match against their apparent bitter and main rivals Munster makes a mockery of the league. It’d be like Barca leaving Messi out of a league game against Real Madrid because they’re playing Bayer Leverkusen at home in Europe the following week.

Of course, there’s the knock on effect that the Oirish players are nicely rested for the spring friendlies whereas the English and French are colliding into and piling up on top of each other all winter. Naturally enough the Oirish have been doing well in these games lately against that backdrop.

You can understand why the English and French want to reset the parameters for “european” competition as a result. I personally think that only two Oirish teams should be permitted into the main competition. This would force them to treat the league seriously.

Barcelona fans don’t say “if we get knocked out of the European Cup I hope Madrid win it. It would be good for Spanish football and that’s the most important thing. Sergio Ramos is a ledge” either.

we that is a huge problem with soccer in ireland and hence the narrative why rhys grego cox from hackney playing for woking is considered the future and starts up front for the 21s and yet we have Bohs playing Midtylland in a qualifier for the UEFA youth CL next week and no one gives a toss with a fucking gun to his head king decided to pick jamie mcgrath for the 21s last week, but this is not the done thing and ye should listen to karl shepphard the other nite on this the barstool crowd here…

Great to see some silverware finally on display in Thomond Park.

MUNSTER rugby are to honour Limerick’s All-Ireland SHC winning heroes.

A congratulatory invitation was extended to Limerick GAA and members of the winning panel are to attend a forthcoming PRO14 game in Thomond Park.

The hurlers and the Liam MacCarthy Cup are to attend on Saturday October 27 when Munster play Glasgow Warriors in a round seven PRO14 game.

It is thought that the players will be introduced to the crowd at half time.

Last month, members of the victorious Cork All-Ireland winning camogie team were presented to the crowd at half time during the PRO14 round three match between Munster and Ospreys in Cork’s Musgrave Park.

There are a number of things that for me demean a sport or indeed a league.

1. Resting key players for matches in that competition. Carabao Cup/Pro14/Europa League
2. Sending out shadow teams for away games. Top 14/Pro14
3. Interviewing managers during a game. English Rugby Premiership, League of Ireland,
   Rugby League
4. Bonus Points for losing. All rugby.
5. Giving up home advantage to play a game in an emerging market. NFL and soon La Liga.
