Munster Rugby - We DID start the fire (Part 1)

The bandwaggon is turning on the coaching staff. Might better advised to check how many current internationals are on the pitch

They are poorly prepared though, mentally at least. They haven’t addressed the attitude and decision making of the younger players. But you are right, you can’t win with the quality they have, and Murray was the last straw.

I called it a long way back, Penny had a history of evolving teams and developing young players, going to the “Indigenous” team (Foley in particular) was foolhardy.
THey look like players confused between 2 coaching philosophies.

Is that them definitely finished lads ?

I saw their coach interviewed during the week - he spoke like a simpleton and looked like he just got out of bed

Ah well.

Up your hole you cunt.

It was Six-One news I think. It was very strange

Leinster showing them how its done

Someone with a lisp simply cannot command the respect of the dressing room. As I’ve mentioned before, we saw that clearly with Colm Bonnar’s disastrous spell in charge of Wexford.

For lads with no interest in Rugby they do an awful lot of watching of it.

Only when they are being bate out the gate. Great times.

The lack of that motorway between Limerick and Cork really came home to roost today.

How did Foley get the job anyway? One of the clique?

Rode the hounds and fucked the foxes.

Without an actual knowledge of it, I get the feeling Penny was undermined and there was some backhanded politics going on alright.
But the management of Munster, above coaching, in recent years has been questionable.
The Hanrahan thing is mind boggling ly stupid, and it was parochialism and arrogance that was their un-doing. Basically they had started to believe all the media shite about them and are now living on oast glories thinking a name and tradition is enough.

Reality is, if you look at the top 8 in the European Cup today based on points, it’s nearly a 1-8 in terms if financial power as well.
Size is more key than ever and the Irish teams lack big dynamic players. Collectively we have enough, along with an incredibly astute coach, to be very good internationally but they are simply not attracting the decent foreign players anymore.

Foley had no track record as a coach. Very strange decision.

I theorize that some people may have been getting insecure about the quality of Penny’s coaching and started creating a campaign about the style not suiting Munster. Despite the fact that Munster have lacked the players to play “the Munster way” for a few years now. Once Tipomi, O Gara and Howlett went they were replaced with Charlatans and Leinster cast offs. The attitude and decision making of Zebo, Keatly etc has never risen about Mediocre and regularly below it. The forwards has never been much if an issue.

Penney did an excellent job with Munster and got them a damn sight closer to a Heineken Cup final in both of his two years than Tony McGahan had done with a stronger squad. He had them punching well above their real weight in that competition. They’ve been a mess since he left. Ulster have made similarly stupid coaching decisions twice since 2012. Brian McLaughlin in particular got a very raw deal from them.
