Good player he is only in the academy yet. Seen more as a full back
I made the Luke McGrath comparison. Specialized positions are difficult. Munster have produced Keith wood, Frankie Sheehan, jerry flannery, Niall scannell and Sean Cronin. Leinster have produced shane bryne?
Tbf carberry missed three months in the middle of the season and ross bryne was brilliant. Carbery was probably a victim of his own versatility too.
Thatâs my point. Munster fans want a top outhalf to walk in the door ready to go. They donât have patience to put a guy in to develop and they somehow think that they are too big or too important to make do with a good club player standard of a 10.
That doesnât make any sense. They have struggled at 10 since ROG retired. Theyâve played only Irish players and a âprojectâ kiwi there since. None of them have been good enough to make the position their own. They werenât going to be allowed sign a foreign 10 so they were looking at another season of switching between Keatley and Hanrahan while trying to get Johnson game time i.e another trophyless season. This is a good deal for Munster and Carbery as long as Johnson stays fit and gets game time. Itâs a bad deal for Keatley and Hanrahan alright.
Munster have had the patience to stick with keatley for 5 seasons whoâs a glorified club player in my opinion.
Will Tyler Bleyrndaal ever play again or are we not supposed to mention that.
I think Munster are in stark contrast to Ulster who put in Jackson and backed him. He wasnât great to start but developed into an international standard 10 over a number of seasons. He was allowed make mistakes. Munster would never have done that, they want a quick fix solution. Hanrahan has gotten three starts in a row at 10 for Munster at most.
How long will jc contract be for. Or are leinster going to want him back. They seem to be running Irish rugby now. Robbing players from Connacht and loaning out for one season because theyâre stacked
Leinster and most top clubs dont wait. You cant afford to
Paddy Jackson was starting for ulster in a Heineken cup final at 19. He was incredibly highly rated. He was an Ireland under 20s captain.
Munster arenât a top club they are a step above Ulster. Leinster are a top club because they are developing their own players. Munster are not and they want quick fix solutions, âwe want carbery youâre not even using himâ. Theyâll be back to square one in a year.
Hmmm. You seem to be cherry picking a bit there. You think Munster havenât been patient with Keatley? Or Blyendaal? Is it just that Munster arenât giving Hanrahan the 10 jersey that you have the beef with? Thatâs a slightly different point. Hanrahan chose to leave and is only back this season. He did nothing at Northampton and has failed to produce so far for Munster on his return. He could argue he shouldâve got more game time this season but when he did, he didnât play well. Keatley was playing well this season until it got to the business end (where he imploded) so hard to argue Hanrahan shouldâve been ahead of him on form.
Paddy Jackson is a far better player than anyone Munster have. Just giving someone game time does not mean they will reach the standard. It is too important a position to just give a player 3 or 4 years there to develop if it is obvious that they are not good enough.
Imo Munsters biggest mistake was moving Conor Murray to ten at 19 or 20. I guess the irfu didnât push it with Sexton/rog/Jackson in the system.
If I was in charge at munster Iâd sign paddy Jackson tomorrow. An outstanding player.
Thatâs just wrong. Whatever your gripe with them, they are one of the top clubs in Europe. Theyâve gotten to the last 4 in Europe in 6 of the last 10 seasons.
Seriously.
Does the no.10 not just have to kick the ball?
Why cant they get people in rugby who can kick a ball?
Serious answer please.
Theyâre behind every club that won a league in recent years.
And unlucky to be drawn away in France in 4 of their last 5 semi finals.
Carbery = rugbyâs Mo Johnston.
Heâs going to get horrific abuse when he plays against them at the RDS and Thomond Park next season.
Heâll get all that âJudasâ stuff and maybe even a pigs head or two thrown at him also.
Munster v Leinster is the bitterest rivalry in Oirish sport. Carbery is about to realise this.
