Did I hear that Hanrahan was nominated for European player of the year once? When did that ever happen

He was never nominated for European player of the year. He was nominated for player of the tournament at under 20s World Cup. Glas didn’t realise the only reason Jj was playing ten during that tournament was because pj had broken into the ulster first team at 19 and was given the summer off. He didn’t admit this so he tried to say hanrahan was a better player and hoped nobody would call him out on it.

You have utterly destroyed a few loudmouths here with hard facts.
You have actually given an internet masterclass.

Munster fulfilling its role as a development province. Great to see

Only as good as your last game

Not when the best team is the same team.
And when the 2nd best team is also the 2nd best team

Ahhhh.

You are winding.

OK well done. You got us for a while

I hope for his sake he is.

His next move will be interesting

I gave him an out

Joey seems like a very well adjusted young fella. I think he will be a roaring success at Munster and the locals will love him.

Feet firmly on the ground and is honest about the move. None of this bullshit “it’s an honour to play for Munster…”
It’s an professional decision.

There’s no shame for Munster in being a Leinster B team.
They should take on more of their young lads.

Funny how people can read the same article and come to 2 very different conclusions. He strikes me from that as a surprisingly anxious lad, especially for a guy who has played out half for his country at a very young age. Talking about his dad’s many sleepless nights and needing someone to talk to as he will be away from home, he would get to Limerick faster from Athy than many of the squad living in Cork! He is going to spend the next 5 weeks with 8 of his new teammates, it’s hardly a step into the unknown. I hope it goes well for him in Limerick, it sounds like taking him out of his comfort zone may do him the world of good.

I got that too.
He seems very unsure of himself and it struck me that he is very reluctantly going.
Doesnt bode well.
First bit of pressure and he will crumble.

Ypu do not think it’s well adjusted to be honest about how you fee, how it’s been a stressful time, he needed help but he is making a professional decision and glad it’s over. Now he can concentrate on getting to know his new team mates over next while that he already does not know.

That’s a pillar of security. He is not afraid to talk afraid bout struggles.

Ypu have just e planed the major problem with the Irish male psyche right there.

You think he’d be better off bottling it up and come out with afraid bout load of sound bites???

I hope he is able to adapt to the pace of life and the food in Limerick.

He grew up in Athy, its a step down, but not as much as you’d imagine.

I don’t at all think he should hide his feelings or bottle things up, but I can hold that view and also a view that a 22 year old taking a job 90 mins from home having real concerns about being away from his friends and family is not the sign of someone who is well adjusted. It’s not just an ordinary job he is being asked to do either, remember the lad who wore the 10 shirt for Munster much of last season has previously been mercilessly booed by his own fans at Thomond Park so perhaps a few sound bites thrown their way would have been a wise approach. Self confidence and self assuredness are essential qualities for the role he is being asked to play.
