Munster Rugby - We DID start the fire (Part 1)

Isnā€™t there some play off the 7th place plays?

Anthony Foley is an alright sort.

No 7th usually goes for a playoff but not this year because of the WC. 7th gets inā€¦unless thereā€™s a country not already in as all 4 must get in. The Italians are ranked lower so Munster are out as of right now.

Incroyable.

Munster still have to be favourites to get 6th. Theyā€™re last two matches are both at home to Edinburgh and Scarlets.

To the shit and useless nothing is impossible

Itā€™s hilarious how Foley is getting away with all this with so little comment in Irish rugby circles. Heā€™s made some balls of the job. Munster are a rabble under him. His predecessor Rob Penney did an excellent job with sparse enough resources but was run out of the place.

Similarly Matt Oā€™Connor was run out of Leinster despite getting them to a European Cup semi-final away to triple Heino champions Toulon last season, which they only lost because Ian Madigan threw a ridiculous intercepted pass in extra-time.

Ulster also decided to dispense with the services of Roman Catholic Brian McLaughlin in the year he got them to their only Heineken Cup final since 1999 and have gone nowhere since.

Thereā€™s been some mental decisions in regards to coaches of Irish rugby provincial teams in recent years.

Connacht are by far the best coached Irish team and itā€™s no coincidence theyā€™re up at the top of the table.

God love him Iā€™m sure heā€™s a nice chap but Keatley reminds of the pilot who has lost his nerve in Hot Shots but still has to fly the plane.

I heard on the radio tonight that the chap he replaced Holland had to take a year out of the game because his hamstring came clean off the bone.

Some foreign fella whose name escapes me. Keatley always struck me as an alright sort, but heā€™s in clean shit right now and its cruel to even put him out there at this stage. Heā€™d be better off just getting out as quietly as he cane. Horrible to see any sportsman* in that shape.

Apart from McIlcunt obviously.

Just in case anyone is wondering after a couple of ambiguous posts there.

Anthony Foley is and always will be an unmerciful cunt.

There was always a big deal made about how Keatley didnā€™t make the junior cup team in Belvo, in the style of keep at it and follow your dream and itā€™ll come good. An inspirational story.

As it happens it looks like the Junior cup coach knew the score.

Or perhaps the standard at Belvo then was higher than the standard at Munster now.

So are these cunts finished or what? Whatā€™s the scenario for them not to be in the Heineken cup next year? And if they donā€™t qualify how much revenue will they lose out on?

No sugar coating please, just lay the full facts on the table here.

No

At the moment they arenā€™t in. Thereā€™s two fixtures to go yet. Theyā€™re playing Edinburgh in Cork in two weeks who are currently ahead of them. Cardiff are playing today and can overtake them. If Munster win out they still may not make it if Cardiff can match them.

Revenue wise the big hit would be the loss of match day income as the rest of the money goes to the IRFU centrally who distribute how they see fit. 3 Irish sides is about par for the IRFU.

If they donā€™t qualify itā€™s red rover. The Heineken cup income is the only thing keeping them going at this stage and 10 year tickets that were sold for mad prices in the golden days are up next year. Theyā€™ll already be struggling to give them away at steeply discounted prices, if theyā€™ve no Heineken cup as well they are quenched.

They certainly arenā€™t quenched. Financially the Munster Branch might be in the toilet but the IRFU are in great shape. Munster Rugby isnā€™t going to fold, what would happen is that they would lose control of Thomond to the IRFU.

Two rounds left.

They play Edinburgh in Cork in two weeks time. Edinburgh ahead of them at the moment on the rugby football equivalent of goal difference. If Edinburgh can somehow beat them then Munster rugby football would be unlikely to reach the Heineken Cup or whatever itā€™s called these days. I expect to see you in the away end at Musgrave Park cheering on the brave and faithful Scots.

Scarlets at home is their last match.

Bit of a clearout in Munster. Looks like Foley and the old boys are gone and theyā€™re bringing in Saffer Erasmus who coached the Stormers in Super Rugby before.

Foley needs to make sure he gets them into the Champions Cup for next year or his rep will be seriously tarnished.

Foleys getting the bullet? Did he not sign an extension?
