Munster Rugby - We DID start the fire (Part 1)

The two bosh merchants in the centre is fooling nobody and the wingers aren’t seeing much of the ball in space

DĂ© Allende is so much more than a bosh merchant. He is an unbelievable athlete and serious ball carrier but really clever player. I’d agree though Scannell and himself far more interesting option for me

Scans is great when teams aren’t aggressive in defence, hes unreal in space great eye for space. Farrell and goggin would be more suited for teams that come up fast, they have the size to break the line.

Couldn’t agree more. Guy has silk with strength. 13 be better channel for him I think.

Shane Daly has played a bit at 13. Could he be an option as a strike runner.

Most good players could do a job at 13 in attack. Gets tricky when you don’t have the ball though you are exposed all sides

Toughest position on the field to defend. Decision making every bit as important as technique at 13.

Van Graan is a name synonymous with munster rubby.

Hopefully larkhams will become one

Munsters eyes are bigger than their belly.
How long til they go bankrupt again?

Genuine question @gilgamboa when you don’t use your backs at all basically is there any point in having them? Would you be better off with a couple of flanker types at 12 and 13 for the smash and the breakdown. You’d still need pace on the wings I guess even if you weren’t using them.

Too big to fail.

Ok until the irfu have to bail them out again. Surely at some point they’ll be told they cant do their Christmas shopping in New York anymore when they can’t pay the mortgage?

Didn’t stop half of Ireland

And that went well.

Most went bankrupt, got money from the state, and bought their businesses back for less money and are trading away again not a bother.

Is there no end to the similarities?

At the top level you’d need pace to be able to defend in the backs anyway. If you put stander and ó Mahony into the centre for munster any half decent backline would make a holy show out of then

Fair enough. I think rugby is very defined by traditional positions, no one ever really deviates from it. I think that’s unusual in sport. It has evolved clearly from the 90s but only in size really. No one ever takes a different view. It’s obviously unique in itself but it would be interesting to see a different formation

Positions have never been more loosely defined. You’ve hookers burning fellas down wings. You’ve the new phenomenon/position of 5.5. youfe scrum halves ranging from midget to monster. All back 3 are interchangeable. The specialist 8 becoming less common. Outhalves interchangeable as a 12/15.
