Munster Rugby - We DID start the fire (Part 1)

Itā€™s very convenient that these stories come out a day or two after the SARU released horrible 23m rand losses.

Particular set of circumstances there obviously but the whole set up appears to be shambolic

my sources have told me that the hostile reaction when he got the job and the lack of a welcome from players and fans still leaves a bitter taste in his mouth. the fact that they want him to stay now is meaningless to him as he can see them as the two faced pigs that they are.

first decent offer and he is off

:grinning:he was welcomed as the messiah, mate.

They will crucify him yet

I have better sources than yer man and there was a bit of coldness at the start. But his ability and approach won most over.

Donnacha Ryan gone for pay day to Racing 92

Same S.A. newspaper reported while back that he had gotten a frosty reception. Thatā€™s his sources  winning pretty quickly eliminates any trace of bitterness I find! Heā€™s an exceptional man manager anyway and Iā€™m sure he didnā€™t expect to walk in to universal peace considering the situation. Away from anything on the pitch his handling of the Foley death was exceptional. He didnā€™t put a foot wrong and to maintain the performances after an initial reaction was top class.

Delighted for Ryan if it comes to pass. Criminally underrated and Munster had no chance of keeping him if the IRFU were not happy to renew his central contract. Huge loss for Munster. Doesnā€™t have heavy mileage could play away for another 5 or 6 years fitness permitting. (Iā€™m not sure itā€™s absolutely done deal yet TBH but IRFU appear to be playing hardball)

Totally agree on Ryan. Got to know him a little 2 years ago when he was coming to a gym i did some work in. Super guy, as honest and deep as you will find.

Absolute joke he is not getting an IRFU contract if so.

As for RE, you are spot on. Winning and doing a good job usually knocks everything in the head. Still a ā€œwe did it this wayā€¦ā€ hangover from some of the great Munster squad and i think some resentment for a while. Even though it wasnā€™t personal iā€™m sure some felt Foley was poorly treated, rightly or wrongly.

What i was told was ge was captivated with Ireland and absolutely loved it here. But home and money talks, so i would bever rule anything out. I know from knowing staff its been a very stressful environment for a good while now.

Yeah I wouldnā€™t either. Money talks being the key one though and I am not sure they have it to give him at the minute. Irish national job there for him in a few years if he wanted it and current level of performance is maintained. He is only 44 so plenty time to go home and make a difference there. Munster is some cakewalk compared to dealing with the upper echelons in S.A. Iā€™d imagine

Ryan is a tricky case really. Ive had a feeling for a while the IRFU mightnt renew. 33 with a poor injury background. Overriding decision is made on whether they feel he will still be involved come next WC which is probably 50/50 at best. Lot of younger options coming through and already 2 second rows on central contracts as far as I know. I think heā€™s our best current 2nd row though bit Iā€™m also completely biased tbf

Ya he simply a great option for certain days, bigger ones usually

Big time. As a great coach used to say to us when we were kids

Today is a trenches job for hard men

Thatā€™s when Ryan excels. When the other fella might just feel like blinking

Theyā€™ll get some kiwi in cheaper than an Irish lad for the wc.

:scream::scream:

Iā€™m sorry pal

my sources tell me that a recent article showing a prominent rogbee player living in Dublin 16 was a real eye opener for Ryan and sealed his decision to move for more money. Cant blame a lad for that

I heard that also

You would imagine Joe decides who gets to stay and who doesnā€™t.

A tricky one for players at that age as sometimes they end up on a central contract and arenā€™t getting their game anymore.

Ryan is a good international but not lions class. Like toner, heā€™ll be phased out pre wc.

He has been sacked already mate
